Normand's is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton, every meal I have had there has been amazing. The service is also spectacular.
I went to Normand's Bistro tonight (march 7th, 2020) as I was taking in an ESO concert at 8pm. Everything was perfect! As I was alone, they asked if I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. I didn't want to take up a table during their peak time so I gladly accepted the bar seat. The bartender and server were extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered the Roast Chicken Penne. It was there in under 10 minutes and was hot and delicious. This Normand's is a little different than their other location (Normand's Restaurant) as it caters to theatre and music lovers thus, their menu is designed so they can get you to your show on time. You'd never know it though because there was no indication of any corners being cut. If you're going out to the Winspear Centre or the Citadel, I highly recommend dropping in at Normand's. Great place!!!
When it first opened I was worried that Normand was going to lose his shirt. It has turned into the place to dine before the Citadel or going to the Winspear. Prices are high but food and service are great. Nice staff.
Menu is good...food tastes great but not enough selection
This was my second visit to Normand's. Both occasions have been during my lunch for work. I've thoroughly enjoyed the food both times. Service was great. Large portions. Not too busy, perfect for a quick lunch! The chicken penne is amazing.
Nice place. Great food. Friendly staff.
We just went for a quick drink and ordered beers and wine and some fries. The place for some reason smelled heavily of food even when it was completely empty and we were the first and only ones there. The fries were really sub par, thin and not close to any of the decent fries I've had. The server though was very courteous and service was good. And you can't mess a beer which they didn't. In a nutshell, it's not a fancy place to hangout at but decent place for a quick drink on your walk back from work.
I have eaten here before and found the quality and preparation of food very poor unfortunately my resent visit proved to be the same. I had the chicken penne can't remember ever experiencing difficulties cutting into a chicken breast before until now. It was like chewing on rubber the sauce was so heavy I only made it through half the meal. The meals appear to be prepared the old style of cooking heavy , fried and too rich. What we paid for the bill was disappointing last time I will eat there lots of other restaurants in walking distance the only plus the show "Ring of Fire" was excellent
My wife and I came here prior to a show at the Citadel and so did everyone else. The place was 100% full, so it's a good thing we made a reservation. The waitress said that every night around 6:00 o'clock people come in and by 7:30 the place is empty because everybody's going to the same show. I was impressed, given those dynamics, how organized the kitchen was, as was evident by almost every table getting their food by 6:30.On a related note, the waitress told us that they had recently reduced their menu to make it more manageable for the kitchen. I think that makes sense, and the menu still offered a decent variety of food although if you don't like meat (like my wife) there aren't a lot of options. My wife ordered the salmon with rice and she seemed to enjoy it but she's not one to complain. I ordered the steak with fries. Mostly a good dish. The fries were excellent and the steak was good. I also liked that they used broccoli and cauliflower instead of weird "artistic" veggies that nobody likes (like beets). Unfortunately the steak was a bit over done, as I had ordered medium but it came out medium well. Also the steak was a bit thin for my liking. So not the best steak but I still enjoyed it.The worst part about my meal however was that they put a lot of sauce over the steak, which ended up getting soaked up by my French fries, resulting in a good portion of the French fries being wasted. If they could keep the sauce separate from the fries I think the meal would've been much better.
