We had high hopes for Pearl River Restaurant in Edmonton, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We spent nearly $200 on a meal that simply didn’t meet expectations. While the food came out very quickly, it didn’t feel fresh, and some dishes even tasted a bit off. On top of that, the quantity of meat in certain dishes was very underwhelming especially the shrimp dish, which had far fewer shrimp than we expected for the price. The quality and flavor overall were lacking, and for what we paid, we anticipated much better. Sadly, this visit left us dissatisfied, and we don’t see ourselves returning.

Be careful when ordering from here through Skip the dishes. The rice we got with our order today was all sticky and clumped into balls and the sweet & sour pork was hard; both tasted like lunch leftovers that had been re-heated (they most likely were) Only thing freshly cooked was the chicken balls!!
Skip the dishes was so generous to give us a refund for $9.17 and $5 skip credits for the $35 worth of food (before gst)!that will now go into the garbage. Pretty sad for a high priced restaurant 😝

The lemon chicken is SO GOOD!!!! Had it last time we came here too. Our server recommended bbq pork fried rice and peppercorn beef… both were good.
We will definitely be back.

Old time restaurant that is somewhat of an establishment I'm Edmonton. Food is ok but not amazing- very westernized Chinese food flavours. Service is awesome.
We ordered spring rolls and 4 meals with steamed rice to share. The 4 meals came out separately - first two, then one later and the fourth much later. I indicated to the waiter that I thought he had forgotten it. He knew I was annoyed and suggested he was only the messenger and can not control the kitchen. My solution is simply not be return (my first visit was around 1980). I tipped only 10% which is less than my usual tip. Fortunately for him, my wife tipped an additional 15% in cash. My typical visit was during the week not Sunday dinner so I suggest if you must go , avoid Sunday.
