This was my first time at this restaurant, and I have to say I was not impressed. The food portion size was disappointing, especially considering the price. I ordered a large pho, but the amount of noodles definitely didn’t match what you’d expect for a large bowl. Throughout the meal, no one checked on us or asked if we wanted anything else. We sat there for about 15 minutes before a waiter finally came by just to offer water. It really feels like restaurants nowadays are becoming lazy, and the customer service here reflected that.

After finishing work this afternoon, my dad, his friend, and I decided to eat at Pho Hoan Pasteur in Mill Woods. Everything seemed fine at first, but we quickly had issues with the service. A Filipino male server took our order, and we clearly asked for two separate bills: one for my dad and me, and one for my dad’s friend. Despite our clear instructions, the server seemed unfriendly, and his body language suggested he wasn’t happy to serve us.

When the food arrived, I ordered the pork chop rice with four spring rolls, and my dad got a small soup. The food was disappointing. The pork chop was extremely dry and hard to chew, as if it wasn’t cooked properly. The rice was also dry and lacked flavor.

The biggest issue came when we went to pay. I listed the five items we ordered to the cashier, but she ended up overcharging us my dad was charged over $50 for just a small soup, pork chop rice, and four spring rolls. The receptionist seemed confused, didn’t speak English well, and struggled to explain the charges. When I asked about the overcharge, she kept repeating that there was an “add-on” without explaining what it was.

The same server who took our order came over to ask what happened, but he was immediately told to answer a phone call. After that, he disappeared into the back of the kitchen and never returned. I asked the receptionist if I could speak to him, but she refused and said she was in charge. She was also wearing AirPods while working and did not act professionally or try to help us resolve the issue. She became aggressive, so I told her to keep the $50 and that I would be filing a complaint.

This experience left a bad impression. The service was rude, the food was subpar, and the billing was unclear and overpriced. I don’t recommend this location based on today’s experience.

I recently visited Phở Hoan Pasteur in Millwoods for the first time, and overall, it was a positive experience. The restaurant was fully packed, which immediately gave off the impression that it’s a popular local spot — always a good sign.

I ordered a chicken rice and poached egg dish, which came with rice, vegetables, and some salad. The meal itself was simple but satisfying — not overly spicy or rich in strong flavors, which I actually appreciated. Sometimes, less is more. The chicken was tender, the egg was well-cooked, and the portion size was quite generous. At around $17–$18, it felt like a well-balanced meal with protein, carbohydrates, and greens, making it a great option for those looking for something filling and nutritious.

Even though I’m not a heavy meat eater, I enjoyed the combination of flavors. The sauces were light, and the meat didn’t have any overpowering taste, which worked well for my palate. It’s a place I’d definitely return to — especially when I want a healthy, home-style alternative to fast food.

The vibe was energetic and communal — the kind of environment that feels comfortable even if you’re dining alone. Being there on a weekend, the crowd added to the experience without making it overwhelming.

Overall, I’d recommend Phở Hoan Pasteur for a casual, clean, and satisfying meal, especially if you’re someone who prefers lighter flavors and balanced portions. It’s a great spot to bookmark for your next meal out.

I've been to this location many times over the years, although unfortunately during this visit my goto 5 Star Vermicelli bowl (bún) was, not as good as it used to be. There is more lettuce and sprouts and less carrots and cucumbers.
There was also a noticeable reduction in protein, and much of what was received was overcooked and chewy.
The flavour is good, although for $18, I have to rethink if I will return anytime soon.
The green onion cake was fortunately as delicious as always.
