This place is not the Queen donair of old. The shop is in better condition than before but the food is not the same. Still good but just a bit different and if I am honest I miss the old place.

I am at a loss for words. Queen Donair is an experience unlike any other.

First of all, the atmosphere. The moment you walk inside you know that you'll be treated well. This place isn't like the corporate bullshit you'll see in other areas of Edmonton, this place feels like home. The cozy interior, the man at the counter smiling at you, and the grand menu all work together to make you feel like this place is going to be supreme.

Secondly, the service. We were immediately greeted when we walked in, and taking our order was a smooth and uninterrupted process. No long lineups, plenty of staff to listen to you, and a huge menu to let you know that you're going to get exactly what you want. As soon as we sat down, the kind lady (who's vibe I loved) noticed that we were kind of packed trying to sit at one table for five. She knew exactly what to do, and joined another table with ours so that we'd have plenty of space to enjoy the amazing food. After we sat down, within two minutes we had our food.

Finally, the food. Oh, the food. I salivate just thinking about it. The donair, the cheese, the fries, and the sauce melt together in your mouth to create a symphony of flavors. The donair tasted fresh, like it was just cut off a hand-made skewer. The fries were crisp to absolute perfection, and crunched in my mouth like a leaf on a dry autumn day. The cheese was perfectly stretchy, to the point where it would not pull too much where it would be annoying, but instead it pulled just enough for it to give you one of many dopamine hits. The strawberry shake was just sweet enough for the sugar and flavor to not overtake your senses, but to please them.

If you're reading this, I highly recommend Queen Donair. This place is what I would consider to be the best restaurant in Edmonton. Everything works together so well to deliver you the perfect experience. Queen Donair is a place that feels like home, where you can eat like it's home.
