We arrived to Edmonton late evening and needed a place to eat. Our server (Leon) was great... Checked if we wanted to relax with our drinks first or get food ordered. The meal was good (I had the swordfish... Very tasty. Not a huge serving but it was perfect for me). We shared the baked chocolate chip cookie for dessert... It was great. (Takes 15 minutes to bake, but that let out dinner digest and time to enjoy the outdoor ambiance). Good experience.

Food and atmosphere was really great! It's a beautiful hotel with a stunning patio. However, our server Angelo wasn't very friendly, and didn't even take our drink order. We had to ask to order drinks and slammed our waters down on the table while handing us our menus. I would understand rushed behavior if the restaurant was busy, but there was only one couple at the bar, and a party of four sitting behind us. I would come back for the food, but the service really didn't make this meal enjoyable.

The patio at the Riverside Bistro has an incredible view of the river. I made a reservation for a graduation celebration at 12:45 pm and confirmed we would be there but no preparation for a table for six was arranged. We had to help push the tables together when someone did finally take notice of us and take us to the patio. The service was not attentive other than we did have our water well taken care of. I ordered the Brussel sprout Waldorf Salad and it had a serious bagged supermarket salad vibe but the other meals ordered were fair. They also charged us an automatic 18% gratuity despite our group being 6 where the menu states over 6 at least this is what is shown online. Then our server was giving the impression that this was necessary due to how much harder the kitchen had to work to plate our food. Also chose his words in a way that made out that it was not a gratuity implying one was still due. The restaurant was not busy in any way and no one was putting in any additional effort. The thing I cannot understand is why it was so blah there when they have one of the best views in the city. This was our second visit here. Our first visit was for supper and it was much better service and the food was good so maybe they try harder for the supper patrons?

We went here for an earl dinner.
We waited over 1 hour for food
At least 30 minutes for one appetizer.
The waitress didn’t ask if we wanted another drink we had to ask her.
The fish n chips weren’t want I thought it wasn’t cod
Probably pollack.
The rest got the steak sandwich it was good.
The appetizer was good had to ask for more nane bread.
Had to ask the waitress to hurry up with our order.
The view was stunning.
You need to get a different cook and waitresses.
Won’t recommend This place to anyone.
Maybe for a drink and appetizers you will wait a long time.
Pro better to go to the McDonald hotel patio.
At least they will be quicker.

Came here for Father's Day brunch. I tired to call in numerous times to get any details from them about cost or making a reservation to be told they weren't having Father's Day brunch even though it's posted on their Instagram. I was then told to call back and speak to a supervisor because they had no answer or to make a reservation online. When we showed up it was dead and two waitresses stood there talking instead of helping us, the bartender actually saw us and seated us outside. The Father's Day “brunch” was nothing special it was an overpriced brunch menu. Food was plain and basic. The view outside on the patio is the only reason I can see people coming here.

It is not very often that I have posted a bad review. And I hope this is a one-off. Made a reservation, showed up for patio seating and preferred a table with shade. The server said there was no shaded areas left on the patio… but another server overheard her and mentioned their full-shaded corner section at the back. As we walked out, I noticed one table with an umbrella (not reserved) and they did not want to seat us there - but a couple came 30 mins later and they were sat there. (Not sure what happened).

So we sat at a table where one seat was in shade, but it soon was in full sun so when an umbrella table was vacant, we waited for our server, but she had not been back for a few minutes, so we decided to go over to the table so nobody else took it. (There were 3 tables total being used on the patio). A busser came out and angrily stated we should have asked for permission bc the table had been requested by other ppl (we hadn’t even sat down so we said we would move back to our table, no problem). But he said, “well you’re over here now so I will just tell those people you took their table). He was very rude and raised his voice at us. I again said “you do not need to talk to us this way. We did not know, so we will just move back to our table. We are not going to knowingly take someone’s table.” He mumbled something under his breath and just walked away from us.

We tried communicating this situation to our server, but she dismissed us very quick. The adjacent table noticed our mistreatment and verbally shared our frustration and shock.

When my server came back, I told her the situation again, stating this is not our you should treat customers. She then apologized. (I was never mad at her, it was never her fault, but we were disappointed with their mannerisms and dismissal).
We are our food and still had food on our plate. We were not asked if we wanted a second drink or dessert. She just asked if the bill was together or separate. We verbally said “Oh, I guess we are done haha” and she had no response. We felt rushed out.
It was a very bizarre experience.
But, the view is beautiful lol 😂

I will not be coming back.

A lovely place to relax and enjoy a meal overlooking the North Saskatchewan River Valley.

Beautiful restaurant - patio and view are stunning. However food is average at best, and very expensive. $8 upcharge to change a side of regular fries to sweet potato fries! Would not eat here again but would consider going for drinks and enjoying the patio.

Worst experience, I would not recommend. Food was subpar, service from the moment we entered the hotel was terrible, our server was rude.

Riverside Bistro-Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton is very commendable to all who want to eat a decent and delicious food with a beautiful scenery of Edmonton Downtown. My wife and I was very happy and very satisfied to celebrate her birthday. The crew are also nice, kind. We would probably come again but this time with family and friends.

We celebrated our 41st anniversary on the patio inside one of the domes. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to set our own temperature and listen to music through the Bluetooth speaker. The lights and decor were beautiful. The food was excellent, especially the Lobster Linguini!! We would go again!!

The veggie burger can use some improvement, the bun was awesome, dressings were great, the pattie can get better, I felt it was plain dry and brittle, rest of the food was awesome especially the poutine
