We ate here last night and tried their lamb shank (haniid) & beef cubes (beef suqaar) and we were very impressed with the flavours and tenderness of the meats. Their mango lassi was great as well. Weren't able to take a pictures due to excitement and we demolished our plates so quickly. Definitely a hidden gem. We will be back for sure!

I went in with 2 of my friends, and we all shared delicious food at a very low price. The staff was incredibly friendly and the whole experience was very enjoyable i highly recommend visiting this restaurant as it gives you the chance to explore different cuisine while supporting a small local family owned business.

Just went to pick up an order, lady just spoke to me like I was less than, raised her voice at me, spoke over me when I explained I couldn’t take an order that wasn’t ordered over the app. She said it was her family so do it, as she dismissed me with her hand like my time and the money I should order didn’t matter.

After waiting over an hour for my food, I expected it to be fresh. Instead, I was given old, reheated takeout. It’s unbelievable to wait that long in my car only to go home completely disgusted. The lack of integrity and care is shocking — never again.

This was a great lunch indeed !!! Wonderful flavours and spices in this chicken dish! The accompanying rice was just delicious! The accompanying spice dip was a bit too spicy hot for me but extremely flavourful! The small side of salad had a very tasty dressing that I enjoyed. There was too much in this order for me to eat in one sitting. The owner approached me and we had a nice chat about food of course , very very nice lady! I’m excited to return and try the other offerings on her menu … this is a great place to eat. The only downside was that there were a few flys buzzing around me and my food and I just find that very annoying but I do understand it’s sometimes difficult to prevent. And , no fault of the restaurant but other patrons blaring out loud their cel phones behind me watching “ You Tube Videos” so pitiful that these guys cannot put their phones away when dining , or at least have some common courtesy and spacial awareness. Otherwise , the main thing here is the food is wonderful ! I’ll be back for sure.

This place was the most amazing place I have ever eaten in the food served is out of the world from the rice to to lamb to the goat meat to the soup and the mango lassai the service is amazing as well we had the sweetest server 10/10 for her blessed to eat in this amazing place mashallah. Tried Royal Restaurant for some East African cuisine. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. I had the Han BBQ chicken – it was very tender (still wondering if that’s how East African BBQ is usually done or something unique here), but it wasn’t really to my taste. The other dishes were okay overall.

Totally blown away with the food and service. I have only 1 minor critique - don't ask non Somali or any other non African person if they want the fruit that should come with the meal. Give it to them and if they ask about it, tell them that banana on the rice is part of the culture. I think this is probably the best restaurant for African cuisine in Edmonton. I've eaten at a lot of African restaurants in the city and this one by far is the best. The hospitality is also worth mentioning. 10 out of 10.
