I feel ridiculous even writing this, but I feel like it needs to be said. Went through the drive-thru last week and ordered a coffee. Was told a price and pulled up to the window. The staff member held the debit machine just outside the window and due to glare and the angle, I couldn’t see what was on the screen. After tapping my card and nothing happened, I noticed (as the staff member pulled the machine back into the window) there was a tip prompt on the display. When the staff member took the machine back inside, I assumed they had just advanced to the next screen, so I tapped it without thinking when it was placed back toward my car.
When I checked my balance later, I noticed that the purchase was for $1 more than what was told to me when I ordered. So while I appreciate that it’s only 100 pennies, it’s the principle that is upsetting me; A staff member decided to help themselves to my money without my consent. While I wouldn’t call it theft, I’d say it’s highly sketchy and completely inappropriate. Dollars are tough to come by and there are a lot of choices for coffee in this area. I’ll be frequenting those that I can trust.
For reference, the staff member was male and had eyeglasses and a tattoo on his upper arm.

Ordered a small coffee worth 250 points and the cashier redeemed 500 points which are for medium coffee from my rewards instead of 250.will not come again for this kind of service

I no longer visit capilano location as quality of lattes is not what it used to be. I mentioned this to the cashier on my last visit there. She argued that nothing has changed and wouldn’t hear what I had to say. Since then I have gone to the sherwood park location as well as the one on 34 avenue and have consistently received the lattes that I fell in love with. It’s a shame that I now have to drive out of my way as the Capilano location is nowhere near as good as it once was!
