we go Shanghai 456 quite often especially if we want Chinese food other than Cantonese or Sichuan … their Chinese Dinner for 6, IMHO, is the best value for family dinner … today, we went for a quick lunch and we ordered Pan Fried Beef Dumplings (War Tip), Ma Po Tofu (Spicy Minced Pork on Tofu) & a bowl of white rice for two elderlies … it's very satisfactory 😋😋😋

I feel like there are a lot of mixed reviews about Shanghai 456 but I, personally, quite enjoy this place.
I don't generally get anything but soup and dumplings when I come here so I can't speak to their stirfried dishes.
I love coming here on a cold day for the 456 noodle soup bowl and xiao long bao. The soup is hearty and the broth is really light. The soup has vermicelli noodles, fish balls, meat, enoki Mushrooms, bean curd and choi. Honestly one of my favorite cold day noodle soups. I've had some of their other noodle soups as well, like the dan dan noodle soup, wonton and hot and sour, and I enjoyed all of them.
Definitely one of my go to Chinese restaurants on the city.

Been hearing great things about their soup dumplings, but was utterly disappointed. Not much soup in them, and the texture of the meat filling was off. Everything was also wrong with the lamb dumplings that we ordered: the texture of the dumpling wrapper, lamb filling. Will not return. Extremely overhyped. Even Costco soup dumplings are better. There are definitely better spots for soup dumplings in Edmonton.

We came for the soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), but were disappointed. The skin was too thick and the meat inside was too small. We had better one in other Chinese restaurants. The Dan Dan noodle soup had the noodles still stuck together. The pan-fried meat bun that was only available during weekends was not bad. The stir-fried Shanghai noodles was not bad, but the portion was small in comparison to other Chinese restaurants.

Literally my favorite restaurant in the city. The soup dumplings are incredibly addictive, I might be able to eat them for every meal for the rest of my life. They have braised pork belly with noodles, and pork chop with noodles which are both amazing.
