I have always loved the Sugar Bowl but I will not return anytime soon. I was very disappointed by the service and management tonight. It is disappointing that customer service is no longer a priority here. While the food, beverage, and atmosphere remain good, the service is so abysmal I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The food was very good but service made our group feel unwelcome. We look for outside patio breakfast's for our club and will be dropping Sugur bowl from the rotation . Sad because the previous visit was why we came back.

As a group of friends that select a different restaurant on a weekly basis to enjoy a patio meal, we found the Sugar Bowl quality of service to be sub-par, food delivery slow. But the poor quality tables and seats in the outdoor patio makes it hard to provide a positive vibe for the meal.. A mish-mash of table shapes ,heights, along with hard steel chairs make the whole experience below acceptable public standards.
Unfortunately, this will move the Sugar Bowl down on the return list of potential restaurants we select.. Too bad, I personally have fond memories of a great experience in the past.
Note: if you are a group of 6 or more, expect to be charged a 20% gratuity directly attached to your bill no matter how good or poor the service. It is clearly posted on the menu though.
I wish I could have been more positive😥

Very popular spot for brunch or patio drinks. Can be tough to get a table, especially for groups. Service is attentive, fast, and friendly. They have an excellent selection of drinks and a great patio on which to enjoy them.
On this occasion I got the spicy burger with fries, and a polyrhythm brown ale. Beer was well poured and perfect temp. Burger was just ok. Fries were cooked perfectly.
I found the brioche bun excessively greasy on the outside and the burger patty too thick and juicy for a brioche bun in general. The bun couldn’t stand up. Also, this is just preference, the patty is heavily spiced, which isn’t my thing. Lastly, I like the burger to be a bit charred on the outside and this one just wasn’t. Almost as if the grill wasn’t quite up to temp.
Overall, great spot for a drink and friendly service on a nice day. IMO, not a go-to for burgers.

Went here with a dear friend on my visit back to Edmonton after a 9 year break, excellent service and the chicken and waffles were delicious 😋

I rarely venture to the white ave area, but my son insisted this was a great spot to meet for brunch - he was right! I also hardly ever go for brunch because I prefer family brunch cooked at home but very glad I changed it up today. Had the breakfast burrito which was so good but too much for me to eat in one sitting. Atmosphere was full of fun-shine energy and service was great. Well worth the 20 minute wajt, without a reservation. Love that there's reserved parking in back. Great place to go for a walk after your meal.

The food here is amazing and I love the beer selection but I have to be honest… the banana cream pie used to be my favourite. The crust was dense and buttery. Whatever they’ve done to change the recipe is horrible and I am begging you to please bring back the old recipe. No chocolate sauce bologna on there. No fancy liqueur and runny crust. Just classic banana cream pie perfection. PLEASE go back to the old way!!!!!!!!

1. They took 40 minutes to get food out
2. Their food was subpar. Do NOT get the mac and cheese. Sad to say it but I could've made it better at home.
Go somewhere else. Totally not worth the price

Wow—unfortunately, the service and food quality have really gone downhill. We were the second table seated shortly after opening on a Tuesday, and while the food arrived promptly, that’s where the positives ended.
Our server, Nicole, never checked in to see how the food was or offer refills on water or coffee. The meal itself was incredibly disappointing—greasy, bland, and the chicken was stringy and lacked flavor (we ordered the chicken and waffles).
Even after we finished eating, our plates sat on the table for 23 minutes before anyone stopped by to check in or offer the bill. Shockingly, during that time, another staff member dropped off a bowl of peanut butter and jam for the next guests but didn’t even attempt to clear our table.
Sadly, it was a frustrating experience from start to finish, and not at all what we expected based on past visits.

30 minute wait, while half of the restaurant is empty. Kept asking and they had to respect the waiting list (obviously) but nobody showed up, so they had me and my toddler Waiting on the rain for 30 minutes while all these tables are empty. TERRIBLE operation and service (and logic). Their answer and service also kinda rude, not inviting or problem solving
