The reason for the 1 star is because the food was satisfactory. Not as consistent as it used to be. But I’m rating this on service. Which was deplorable. Let’s start off with the sever taking my order. I ordered everything that I wanted off the menu and at the end he read it back to me. But one dish didn’t make it. I told another server Vee. She said she will put it through. It took so long to come in and by the time we were done our meal, the order had not come. Yet was still charged for it when it was there mistake. We ordered an orange crush pop. Vee took it to a table behind ours. When the table to them it wasn’t there’s. They took it to the back and brought it to our table not wanting us to notice the mistake nor apologizing for it. As we were ready to pack up and leave I told Vee that we’re ready to pack. She took the food to the back and never to be seen. She later came back and said ready for the bill? I said yes and she brought the bill and said she will go get the debit machine. Instead she tended to other guests taking orders, seating other guests and cleaning t tables. This went on for about 15 mins. I then called another server to bring me the machine. Honestly the worst service I’ve experienced. I’m sure I’d get better service at McDonald’s. She needs a straight up attitude adjustment.

Do not order pickup from this restaurant. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt multiple times, but the experience continues to disappoint—and I’ve officially hit my breaking point.
Even after quoting an already excessive wait time of an hour and 20 minutes, they regularly make you sit and wait an additional 20 to 30 minutes once you arrive. This isn’t a one-off issue—it’s a recurring problem that shows a clear lack of respect for their customers’ time.
What makes it worse is that I’ve been trying to support the business by ordering directly instead of using delivery services, saving them commission fees. Unfortunately, that consideration is not reciprocated.
If a restaurant can’t manage pickup orders properly, they shouldn’t offer it as an option. Until there’s meaningful improvement, I won’t be back. The frustration just isn’t worth it.

Absolutely loved our meal at Syphay Thai! The flavors were incredible and every dish was cooked to perfection. We ordered the vegetable spring rolls, pad see ew with chicken, bateman fish curry, and finished off with coconut ice cream — each item was delicious and full of authentic Thai flavor. The serving sizes were generous, and the presentation was spot on. Highly recommend for anyone craving flavorful Thai cuisine!

This place has incredible food and portion sizes. However, ordering takeout is a nightmare. Last time I ordered, I asked them to have it ready for a specific time. It was not ready when I got there to pick it up and took an extra 35 minutes to have our food ready. Won’t be ordering takeout from here anytime soon unfortunately.

Unfortunately the service has gone drastically down hill. Even a simple pickup order takes over an hour and don't expect the staff to acknowledge you. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the many other properly managed Thai spots in Edmonton.
Worst Pad thai I have ever had.. tasty like ketchup in the sauce!! Paid 30 bucks for one dish and ended up trashing it cos it was so bad!

If you take anything from my review, understand this: their food is amazing. The Panang Curry was everything I hoped it would be. This is my favorite Thai food in Edmonton at this point. Go for the food.
The location isn't fantastic though IMO. I really prefer not visiting places on Calgary Trail / Gateway Blvd, but that's just me.
It's weird to me to find such amazing food in a weird little strip mall. I imagine food of this caliber served in a decked out fancy restaurant with like a huge saltwater aquarium or something.
The tables are small, the chairs are uncomfortable, the decor was nothing impressive, but the food was very very good.
I highly recommend you try Syphay for the food.

Syphay is a must have!! Started with a coconut soup, it was light, creamy delish. For mains we had the pineapple curry and the gang dang. It was so good. We asked for an extreme level of spice and after reassuring them we could handle it, they delivered!! The heat was perfect for psychos like us! Ingredients were fresh, prepared skillfully and seasoned just right. Sooo pleased with our meal and service. Prices are very reasonable!!
