The Bothy Wine And Whisky Bar

A great local place perfect for patio weather, a quick drink and snacks with friends or a romantic dinner. I love how they are always changing up meats and cheeses. Highly, highly recommend.

Amazing food. Charcuterie is great. We LOVE the Mussels with the blue cheese Sriracha broth! Service is always spot on. Would definitely recommend 👌

After recently discovering that a large percentage of my DNA comes from Scotland, I became very interested in experiencing some Scotland culture and what better way to do that then by trying some of the cuisine! When searching for haggis (Scotland's national dish) I was very happy to discover The Bothy Wine and Whisky Bar.

This is a small and cute type of place that I would consider a little bit hidden off Calgary trail and there isn't a ton of seating inside so it doesn't hurt to make a reservation, however when we visited it wasn't terribly busy for a Saturday night and we had a lot of seating to choose from at that time.

The atmosphere and service were great, atmosphere was a little more quiet and relaxed with dim lighting which I liked. I also really liked our server she showed me a cool Scotland trick that allowed me to squeeze every last drop of my Ardbeg from my Glencairn.

In addition to the scotch, my partner and I shared a wine flight (they also have whisky flights which I will try next time), the wine flight came with 5 x 3oz wines and they were all very delicious, with a few new reds that we had never tried before! When it comes to the wine and whisky, make sure to read the menu very well as it explains all the different types and their regions it is very informative.

Finally the food which was also fantastic. For my partner it was a little more difficult finding a good meal being a vegetarian, but we looked at the menu before coming in so this was no surprise to us. The server was helpful and offered the special on the menu to be modified to have no chicken which was very nice of her, but in the end my partner went ahead and ordered a big plate of hummus and pita which was good for her. I went with the haggis of course which is served with tatties, neeps, roasted vegetables, and a wee drop of whisky, all of which were so delicious.

It was a very pleasant experience for my first time trying haggis and trying to experience a bit of the Scotland culture, and we will definitely be back!

Editing this review to include that we also had the Sticky Toffee Pudding for desert on our visit, it was absolutely delicious and didn't taste like a typical one we had get at any other restaurant, I guessed maybe that is because it is done in a more traditional Scotland way.

It's been a while but everything about The Bothy remains fantastic. Chris is always wonderful, the food is excellent and the quiet/private atmosphere is perfect.

I’m leaving with the biggest smile on my face and looking forward to my next visit to The Bothy… I’ve lived in Scotland for a few years and it feels a little like home. Some people say Canadians are nice, but they have nothing on the Scots! They are the nicest and the lovely guy behind the bar was no different. Thank you for giving me such a good time, it was nice to chat about Scotland, and you weren’t lying, your haggis was some of the best! I look forward to coming back 😊 You absolutely didn’t have to recognize my now 2 month belated birthday… but that’s why you’re the BEST ♥️

Good good, best selection of whisky in Edmonton!

The foods are fabulous. We like the mussels and lamb shank a lot. Pork belly with kimchi fried rice : pork belly was very good，but it doesn't quite match with kimchi fried rice which is too salty and oily. Sausage rolls are great too and it tastes like Indian food with some spice.
Highly recommend reservation. There are not many seats.

Basically, if you’ve not been here before you need to go. Even if you’re not into whisk(e)y, the food is top-notch, but if you are into Whisky, this is definitely the best selection in town and very fair prices for such a unique pours! A definite gem in the city of Edmonton! The owner is also amazing and will give you the best customer service naturally!

Ordered the steak and mushroom pie, with side caesar.
If you like good pie crust, theirs is really great, but the pie was disappointingly small, narrow at the bottom, not much gravy and not much flavor in the little gravy there was. Decent serving of meat...but for the small pie size, so really, not much. Only a few mushrooms.
Caesar was nice but again not much flavor, I could tell the dressing was made from scratch tho. Flavorful baked crispy pancetta slice, wish there were two. The puff pastry add for the salad was nice but matched with all the pie crust, it's just too much pastry. Nice big shaved pieces of parmesan.
I had higher hopes, oh well. Nice little place tho, kind of an upperscale quieter Irish pub. Lovely ambience. I would def try a date night there tho.
