The restaurant is nice and small, it's perfect for a date night or dinner with friends or family where you can actually talk/visit and hear each other. The food and service are always top notch, one of our favourite places. The big windows and views are beautiful

Beautiful space with great views. It had drew underground parking which was handy. Tge desserts were meh but the rest of the food was great!

Great spot for a nice meal. Food and service were impeccable. Was a bit quiet when we were there but it was a Thursday night.

We had a wonderful experience hosting our wedding at The Butternut Tree. From start to finish, the BNT and Samantha, the event manager, went above and beyond to ensure our wedding was excellent.

Samantha was organized, responsive, and guided us through the planning process. The other event staff were warm, professional, and attentive. The day went flawlessly from ceremony to reception. The food was great too, which included canapes, sour dough, cedar plank salmon, Alberta beef duo, and carrot cake – our guests loved it. There were so many thoughtful, personal touches throughout the planning experience and wedding day that made everything feel seamless and allowed us to be present and enjoy :)

We are so grateful to Samantha and the entire team for making our wedding day so special. We could not recommend the BNT enough!

My husband and I visited the Butternut Tree on Sunday to try their beef Wellington special, we were greeted warmly and offered the best table in the restaurant as we were the first ones to arrive, our server was excellent and made us feel very welcomed, he offered us a complimentary prosecco since we were celebrating our anniversary. The food however wasn't the highlight of the night, the Wellington did not live up to the hype or the price. The special came with a dessert as a finisher which was an apple tart, now that really hit spot, it was well made, fresh and presented beautifully, I also ordered a cappuccino which was really a latte but no complaints since it wasn't bad.

Recently enjoyed a fantastic birthday dinner with my partner at The Butternut Tree. The atmosphere was clean, relaxed, and welcoming. Both of our dishes (the duck and the lamb shank) were distinct and perfectly executed. The apple tart and chocolate desserts were also outstanding. Service was spot-on throughout. We both highly recommend it.

PARKING is difficult....the street like many in Edmonton is full and no street parking lots

Booked a last minute table on a Sunday night, it was a great dinner overall. Unfortunately they were out of a few things we wanted but that's the price you have to pay when booking on a Sunday night I suppose. We will happily return! We enjoyed the scallops, trout crudo, beef tartare and shared a main dish of duck.

The food and atmosphere were outstanding. The only issue we had was the waiter wasn't great with the wine and sparkling water. He didn't offer us a taste of the wine when he opened the bottle and the only time he topped us up was when I asked him to. Other than that we refilled our own wine and water. Other than that it was fabulous.

We had an exceptional experience at The Butternut Tree. Despite being very late due to unexpected roadblocks, the staff were incredibly gracious and accommodating, they seated us promptly and ensured we were still able to enjoy the full tasting experience without feeling rushed.

Service throughout the evening was outstanding. The team was attentive, friendly, and checked in often, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. The ambience was elegant and inviting, upscale without ever feeling pretentious.

We chose the tasting menu, which was beautifully balanced and well worth the price. Our standout dishes were the trout, scallops, broccolini, and beef, each thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavour. We also ordered the beef tartare as an add-on, which was absolutely divine and a must-try for anyone visiting.

A special touch that really stood out was the complimentary prosecco offered when we arrived, a kind gesture that made us feel truly cared for. The featured white wine pairing (Ritchie-something) complemented the tasting menu wonderfully.

Overall, The Butternut Tree delivers an exceptional dining experience, refined, thoughtful, and distinctly Edmonton. Highly recommend, especially for anyone who values excellent service, warm hospitality, and memorable food.

We were so happy with The Butternut Tree as our wedding venue! The staff were kind, helpful, professional and fun. The venue was so beautiful and their coordinator, Samantha, did a great job working with us to accommodate our other vendors (florals, DJ, etc.). Plus, it’s in a beautiful location. We would definitely recommend this space as a wedding venue to others!

My husband and I chose The Butternut Tree for our wedding venue in September 2023 after going for a dinner there. Our wedding was July 2025 and the whole process was absolutely perfect. Their coordinater Samantha was very communicative without being overwhelming. Day of they absolutely met all our of expectations with set up, switching between ceremony and reception, and over all just amazing service ! The biers for the background of our ceremony were lovely, the space was great for the ceremony of 50 seated guests. The food was absolutely perfect for our reception, the staff were friendly, the bartenders kept the line going quickly. From getting to curate your own menu to the little touches they add I can not recommend them enough. They accommodated all dietary restrictions our group had & communicated thoroughly to guests about their needs.
We have also been for dinner a couple times and we have always been so pleased with our time there !

We just finished the tasting menu with wine pairings at the Butternut Tree ,and it was fabulous. Wonderfully prepared food, relaxed atmosphere and our server Luke, was phenomenal. We truly enjoyed our first experience here with their seasonal menu and highly recommend trying the tasting menu as an introduction to the restaurant. The view is a bonus to a wonderful evening.

Went for a birthday dinner and chose the tasting menu. I’d like to start by saying I’ve done several tasting dinners and most are worth every penny they are not just a meal but an experience. That being said the dinner I had tonight was not just underwhelming some courses were closer to inedible. The plates were gorgeous the plating impeccable. The food was salty and got saltier as the courses continued. Unfortunately by the last savory course I could not even eat my beef or potatoes. I even tried cutting the top of the seasoned beef off. The final course dessert those are usually delicious while the panacotta was good the center had ice crystals. Need less to say it was disappointing and I will not return will not recommend. The only other thing I can say is I wish I listened to the couple of reviews I seen that were warning of the blah to poor tasting food. I would like to mention the service, it was really good. The only good thing about the meal was the service and the company!!
