Went for dinner tonight with friends and the food was delicious and service was great! And at the end of the night someone ran across the street to give us a phone we forgot! 10/10 would go back again!

Food was good, service was fine ( she was busy), the 4 starts is for the group of cackling women that had no idea that this is not a top volume venue. It just kinda takes away.

I changed my reservation time on the day of, and they were super accommodating. The service was super friendly, however, near the end of our stay things got a little frustrating. Our server seemed pretty busy to be fair, but i had said i was gonna have a couple more bites before asking for a to-go box, and then i didn't see our server for another 16 minutes which was a lot longer than I intended. My friends burger was delicious, but the other four of us felt the flavours were trying too hard in our other meals and weren't cohesive. The drinks were incredibly small for the price, as I ordered a martini for 12.50$ and got barely more than a shot's worth of drink total. I hadn't realized until sitting down that 99% of the drinks had strong flowery flavours, and being allergic to most flowers made it a little disappointing. I wish there were more fruity flavours of cocktails. The atmosphere was wonderful though. Upon sitting down at the booth I crossed my legs and immediately brushed up on two big wads of gum under the table which wasnt a great first impression. I scraped those two off with a napkin since they were hard to avoid touching, but noticed there was many more gum wads under the table as well. A fancy establishment like this should be checking under the tables more regularly than that to prevent this.
I LOVE EVERYTHING about The Common and I constantly return and will continue. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. THANX!!!
I love the cool and contemporary vibe at The Common... The brick walled lounge transitions seamlessly from a relaxed gastropub during the day to an energetic night spot with DJs and dancing... The menu offers elevated comfort food like shareable tapas, gourmet burgers, and braised short rib poutine, with plenty of vegetarian options and late night bites... Cocktails and craft beers are top notch, and the bartenders know how to mix a classic old fashioned just as well as a creative seasonal special... The staff are friendly and attentive, making solo diners and groups feel at home, and the space is inclusive with gender neutral washrooms and wheelchair accessible entrances... We appreciate that they take reservations for dinner and that there is paid parking nearby plus some free street spots... The atmosphere is both cozy and upscale, with live music nights and a dance floor for those who want to stay late... Highly recommend for a date night, happy hour, or a night out with friends.

I recently visited The Common with friends, hoping to enjoy a night of dancing after dinner. Unfortunately, I encountered an issue when I realized I had forgotten my ID in the car, as I had been given a ride by my husband that evening.
While I understand the importance of ID verification, the interaction with the security guard was quite disappointing. Instead of simply informing me that I couldn’t enter without proper identification, he chose to give a lengthy lecture about the necessity of carrying an ID, which felt unnecessary and belittling (at one point he was talking about firearms? 😂 wasn’t quite sure where he was going with that..?). His condescending tone left me and my friends feeling quite uncomfortable to say the least.
Additionally, while we were outside on the patio, the same security guard approached us to say that we were blocking the entrance, despite there being plenty of room for people to pass by. This left us even more confused and added to our frustration.
It’s unfortunate, as The Common was one of the first restaurants I visited in Edmonton after moving here years ago, and I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. However, my recent experience has left me feeling disappointed, and I hope this feedback can contribute to a more positive experience for future guests.

We went to the Common for dinner before going to the Paper Kites concert. I thought we would give it a try because the menu seemed appealing, we left disappointed. The place was not busy, but there was only one server working. We were seated quickly and given water and menus right away. The server came back about 10 minutes later and we ordered. We got the happy hour tempura shrimp to start. It took 25 minutes to get our starter....slow! The shrimp was not tempura but beer battered which was tasty but not what we were expecting. There was very little sauce which made the whole dish kind of dry and unpleasant. For mains: my daughter got the Chicken and waffles. The waffle was bland and under cooked. The chicken was soggy and over seasoned. It tasted like what imagine Play Dough would taste like. It was not well executed at all. This meal was taken off our bill because it was so bad. My wife got the Fish Tacos and they were good. That was the only good thing we had. I got the Brisket Beef Dip with a house salad. The brisket was dry and under seasoned. The garlic pickles were okay but I was only given 2 little slivers on the whole sandwich. I was looking forward to the horseradish aïoli, but there was none on the sandwich and the au jus was too salty. The salad dressing was super bland and unbalanced as well. The food got to our table almost an hour after we were seated......slow!!! The food was terrible but we still tipped the server 18% because she was as attentive as she could be considering she was the only server working. She did a good job and made an honest effort with what she had to work with, which was really poorly executed food. It wasn't her fault.
Always a great experience at The Common. Superb staff, and the food is great. Love the atmosphere.
I made a reservation for a quiet table and was sat at a high top by the door with the ambiance of a Tim Hortons. The place is tiny (that is unless they never let us get past the waiting area at the bar, which is ridiculous considering I made an that is unless they never let us get past the waiting area at the bar, which is ridiculous considering I made a reservation) and definitely not worth it. The server was friendly, but would disappear for 15 minutes at a time. It's a good thing. I was not interested in my date and we left after one drink. I would not have ordered food sitting where we were (not for the price is on their menu... I'm willing to pay for quality food. That's not the issue but when the ambiance doesn't match the menu price it's not worth it). I'm not sure why I bothered to make a reservation to begin with. I could've had this table walking up. I won't be back.

Me and my friends came here for some good drinks and good music and that’s what we got!! We are from out of town so going somewhere where we felt safe was super important to us, the bouncers and bar tenders are very aware of what’s going on. Shout out to james and big papa😛
Absolutely love this place. The security guys are amazing anytime we had a problem with creeps they helped us out and watched out for us. They are all so friendly. Some of the best security guys I've ever met! The music was amazing as well. Love the overall atmosphere of the place.
