Super hard to get any communication from the service team. I never had anyone answer requests through the app or ever the phone. We were there for a special event, room is awesome but that's where the value ends!!
I always love the MAC patio! Best views in the City with the nicest atmosphere. Highly recommended!
We came for lunch on the patio and it never disappoints. It is by far the best patio in the city and the food is fantastic as is the service. Definitely a 5-star experience!
Great place for a nice drink for date night
We had the most wonderful evening at the Confederation Lounge. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet warm, and the views over the river valley were stunning. Special thanks to Jackson and Tyler who personally ensured everything was flawless. Their attention to detail and gracious hospitality made our visit truly memorable. A must-visit for anyone staying at the Fairmont!
I recently visited the Confederation Lounge & Patio at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald with my parents visiting Edmonton. We had a wonderful time together, enjoying both the beautiful atmosphere and the excellent service.
We were warmly welcomed by Jackson, who made us feel special right from the start. He took the time to ask if we were celebrating any special occasion, which added a nice personal touch to our visit. Taylor's service throughout was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious.
Overall, it was a memorable experience with family. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to relax in a charming setting with great service and a welcoming atmosphere.
Lovely as always. I used the valet for my car and had a little trouble finding someone to help me.
We came back to the Confederation Lounge for the second time in two weeks. The service was friendly, attentive, and prompt. The food was sensational. The views from the patio show Edmonton’s river valley at its best.
The food was subpar based on price. Under seasoned and steak was over cooked. Only thing going for evening was service which was very good.
We had a reservation inside, but they were able to set us outside, which was fantastic. Our waiter accommodated us actually moving the table outside as well. It seemed to take forever to order. We were not given the happy hour menu. It took forever to get water or drinks our waiter was very involved with everyone else, but not very attentive to us when we did get our food. I ordered the steak bits. They were ice cold, as well as the other entrées on my plate. My mother had a hamburger which was beyond rare and she had to return it. Our waiter never came back. We had to actually get up and leave, and I went to the front to try to pay the bill When we returned the burger. The manager did come out once and offered us free dessert for the inconvenience of the uncooked burger, and it was the manager who I had to pay the bill with because our waiter never came back. My mother did have a cup of coffee, which was never refilled. It was a little bit disappointing, considering the price we paid as well as it was a special occasion my daughter‘s graduation I really feel that the hotel Mac can do better.

Our family of 6 went for happy hour on Sunday, June 01, 2025. We had a reservation for 2 pm which is when it opens. Service was slow, took a long time to get our first drink. Food was not good, specifically the shrimp cocktail. They were tiny shrimp obviously from a can on top of a heaping pile of cocktail sauce. We all were born and raised in Alberta and frequent the Fairmont Hotel chains in other cities. But Edmonton's was the worse food of all locations. Very disappointed as we were having one last visit with our 88 year old Father. It was a sad experience for us, Dad enjoyed being with his children. My Dad needs a walker, so my husband dropped us at the front door and went to park. He did not have his glasses and had to bring the phone up to me in the lounge to finish entering the credit card information. At 2:02 pm, we got a parking ticket. $45.00 So someone watched him park and gave us no time to enter the data. Again, sad state of affairs. I paid for parking 2 minutes later than 2pm. Just bizarre, they cannot get food or drink out efficiently, but the parking attendant sure does the job timely! We will not go again and we will not recommend this lounge to visitors to Edmonton.
We love the patio at Hotel Macdonald. The view and the setting are exceptional. The patio was at about 40% capacity and inside, in the Confederation Lounge, it was practically empty. after an extended wait of at lest 10 minutes for our drink order, the server thanked us for waiting because they were "slammed" at the bar. We couldn't understand why. However, the setting was lovely and we were in good spirits, so not a big deal. The charcuterie board was, um, disappointing. three pieces of dry crostini, and a few large chunks of cheese, and a few slices of salami, and that was it. Not the culinary experience that was promised. The server was lovely, and we appreciated her more than the actual service or the food. They went out of their way to present our table with complimentary celebratory birthday treat. It was a half of a brownie with sparkler in it. Fun!
Great service, excellent ambiance on the Patio, delicious mocktails and incredible salads. Couldn't ask for more! Will be back.
Typical Fairmont lounge. Excellent ambiance and service, expensive for quality, but yes I'd go back...
We like the Confederation Lounge however the past few times we have booked reservations for business lunches they have not been honored and instead we are made to sit at the low couches & tables. As you can imagine it is very hard to eat a meal there, and makes for an awkward experience with clients. We are given a non-sensical explanation about "earlier reservations" but they don't even take our names to confirm what our reservation was or when it was booked. It is particularly perplexing because the proper tables are not filled by other customers and remain empty for the duration of our lunch.
