Fresh, bright, and incredibly tasty ramen in the Loblaws City Market District. Great for families, dates, and friends. Beautiful bowls, and worth the wait.
Full Review — Tokiwa Ramen (Edmonton Brewery District)
Tokiwa Ramen is one of those places that shows off the very best of Edmonton’s food scene. The ramen here is fresh, bright, clean, and incredibly flavourful, with combinations that feel both comforting and exciting — the kind of flavours you appreciate from the very first bite.
The setting in the Loblaws City Market District adds to the experience. Throughout our visit, we saw families with kids, couples out on dates, and friends catching up — a lively, warm mix that gives the space an energetic neighbourhood feel. It’s easy to see why Tokiwa consistently draws full houses and steady lineups at peak times.
Presentation is beautiful, ingredients are clearly high-quality, and the restaurant’s design is trendy while still feeling comfortable and welcoming. Everything — from the broth to the toppings to the pacing of service — feels intentional and well-crafted.
A delightful spot, and one I look forward to returning to — just as so many others do.

Hands down the best ramen place in Edmonton. Nothing beats their spicy miso with chicken
and chicken and rice bowl.

Staff are super friendly! The ramen is delicious! I recommend the black garlic 10/10
A bustling little ramen shop that serves the best bowl in town. I recommend the Goma Goma.

Pretty good ramen with large portions. The spicy Goma was the favourite, while the Tokyo Tonkatsu was decent. They were pretty busy when we went. They accept only cash or debit though.

Lately I’ve been craving ramen and tried quite a few places—this one is my favorite! The broth is rich and flavorful, the price is very reasonable, $17 for a filling bowl. Both the owner and staff are super friendly. It’s a popular spot so there’s often a wait, but the turnover is quick and it’s absolutely worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommending it.

I love the taste of the soup. They have a different approach on the Black Ramen and the gyoza. They elevate the way on how they made and present. I finished the whole bowl and even from my wife's bowl as well. I will be going back to try and taste other ramen. 👍

First time trying this place and I will definitely be back! I got the black garlic ramen and the broth was flavorful and the noodles were perfect. The restaurant was packed - but the wait time was quick and the service was fast.

Good ramen spot, but the to-go situation is absolutely ridiculous. I went with my boyfriend and between the two of us, we ordered two large bowls of ramen and a rice bowl. I don’t eat a lot, so I wanted to take my ramen home, and he wanted to take half the rice bowl. When I asked for two to-go containers, they refused and said they could only give me one.
I’m already paying for one anyway, so what’s the issue with giving me another that I’d also be paying for? Not to mention, I’m giving you business by ordering multiple dishes but you can’t even provide a to-go container? LOL.
The food is good, but that policy is unreasonable and leaves a bad impression.

We've always walked around this plaza and also passed by Tokiwa Ramen. Most times it's always been closed, even in the early afternoon. This time we made it a point to come in time before everything was sold out.
When we arrived, we got seated very quickly. The inside was designed very minimal, simple, and clean.
My boyfriend ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen and I ordered the Hokkaido Miso Ramen. We both added chicken to our dishes as well. Both of our ramen were good. I liked the citrus notes in the Yuzu Shio, it was a very light broth. For me, the Hokkaido Miso Ramen was more of my style. I liked the creamy broth. It was robust, I like the umami and savory flavors. All of the veggies tasted fresh. The green onions and the mushrooms were my favorite. And the noodle consistency was just how I liked it to be. Chewy, not too soft or overcooked. Of course the miso ramen had 3 types of miso bases so it would be salty, it was just a tad saltier than I would've liked. But it didn't take away from the whole dish, I still liked what I ordered. All in all, we had a good experience.
Also they only take debit or cash. I didn't realize that until later so when I was trying to pay, of course it wouldn't take my credit card at all. So yeah that's one thing to keep in mind.
Obviously Tokiwa Ramen is known for their ramen, but I was also surprised to see rice bowls on their menu too. If I ever get the chance again, I would definitely love to try their Tokiwa Style Beef Gyudon.
