If you enjoy curry, you gotta eat here! Best curried Laksa anywhere for sure. AND scarf down the rotie cannai - it's heaven.

The portions are very generous! I tried the fried rice — absolutely delicious — and the honey lemon chicken, which was perfectly sweet, tangy, and crispy. Really loved it! Excellent service as well.

I honestly never thought I would be writing this review. As Tropika has been one of my favourite restaurants for over twenty five years, but in recent months the quality of their food has been in steady decline.
I don't know if they changed ownership, or kitchen staff, or what is happening, but they went from having the best sambal eggs, and nasi goreng I have ever had in a restaurant, to being just another Asian food restaurant that serves substandard food.
The nasi goreng used to be rich, and flavourful, and was a dark brown colour because of the kecap manis, and now it just looks, and tastes like any other fried rice dish from any other subpar Asian restaurant.
My family is Indonesian, and we have been using Tropika as our go to Malaysian food restaurant for family events, and holidays, for as long as I can remember, but honestly if their quality of food is going to continue to decline like this, the easily more than $1000 worth of business my family brings to this restaurant every year, will be better spent making these dishes at home.
None of that is even to mention the horrible IKEA cafeteria vibes that the restaurant now has since their renovations. Which have turned the entire restaurant into a giant echo chamber where you can't even hear yourself think. Which is why my family has not done dine in service there for the last few years.
DO BETTER TROPIKA!!

Foods were really good and a clean washroom! Appreciated their service too.
This is difficult as Tropika had been our favorite restaurant for over 10 years, we had booked a Mothers day reservation for May 10th at 730pm we arrived early and there was a line up from the counter to the door, we were then told it would be at least half an hour but they would give us a call, they never did call and we found a thai restaurant on whyte ave that was ok. Why were they taking reservations if they were also going to take walk ins. The food is usually superb. We were very disappointed with all of it and the fact they never reached out to explain or apologize
Best spot in Edmonton for Malaysian cuisine!
Ordered three items the roti and Singapore noodles were both really good, flavorful and satisfying. Unfortunately, the fried rice with basil was a letdown it lacked flavor and didn’t have much taste at all. Service was okay, nothing special but not bad either.
Excellent food and very friendly staff!

The roti, tom yum soup and green beans was good.
But the pineapple fried rice was a disappointment.
Service was friendly.
Very bad service ,
Service was awesome. Dish is great. Definitely will come back.
Just ordered take out from them. Specifically asked for cutlery as we are not at a home and don’t have utensils (hence why we ordered takeout) and they didn’t include it!!!! Biggest pet peeve!!!!!! It clearly says ADD CUTLERY on the receipt. Now we ordered all this food that we CANT even eat because our car is currently out for service and no restaurants or stores near us. You had ONE job guys. What are we going to do with all of this now?! Eat with our hands?! Jeezus.
Love this place ! Recommend a try. Staff are very nice food can get a bit pricey but it’s large portions
