This restaurant is only open until 3pm so is pretty much a brunch place. We checked out their website before going to the restaurant and were disappointed that a vegan item on the online menu had been removed from the paper menu and the website was not updated. As some other reviewers indicated, there were not a ton of vegan items to begin with. We decided on the gluten free crepes because vegan crepes are not common in Edmonton, whereas the other vegan/vegan option items are pretty ubiquitous at other restaurants (e.g. granola, and some sort of breakfast plate with hashbrowns). The crepe was good. It came topped with fresh fruit, toasted hazelnuts, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a side of maple syrup. Their menu says the food is seasonal and changes frequently, so we would definitely consider eating there again if the have something that looks interesting.

The food was great. The staff is super friendly and the vibes/music inside was great! Very family friendly as well.

I love this place. I’ve been a handful of times and always enjoyed what I ordered. The buckwheat crepe was delicious today. The menu quite literally says it’s a scratch kitchen and wait times could be longer but it’s so worth it.

The food was awesome here and our server was wonderful ! The lady at the front door was not super welcoming in my eyes. The restaurant shares the space with a coffee shop and we asked if we could grab a coffee and wait for a table on the other side ( about 15 ft from the front door ) and she was slightly rude about that. The staff at the coffee shop were so delightful and said that wouldn’t be an issue and told us they’d talk to her to let her know where we were. It was busy and they had quite a wait list so I get it ! All in all it was a really good experience

Don't consider going if you're hungry cause that's when someone will forget to put it in your order and make you waste an hour of your time. not a bad place but be prepared to find another place.
if your food isn't out in 30 minutes, leave

Under the High Wheel is a gem that ISN'T out of the way. It's easy to miss, on the ground floor of the Roots building on Whyte. It's civilized...genteel chic.

This is the kind of place that becomes a regular spot for Edmontonians. The ingredients are fresh, the preparation is perfection, and the service is quick and deferential.

I had the sweet waffle with fresh fruit and Chantilly cream. Instead of Perrier, it would have been perfect with a mimosa. I added bacon and it was thick, juicy, and cook with care (Under the High Wheel is genuinely excellent...the opposite of hotel bacon, or what you get at (blech) Cora's).

Under the High Wheel is haven among the bustle of Whyte Ave. You should go.

When we went here the first time it was excellent though the wait time for our food was kind of long. The second time we went was less good and our server (Maddy I believe) was pretty bad so that along with the wait time sort of left a lot to be desired. But we decided to try one more time to see if that was a one off and sadly our last experience was more similar to the second than the first. It sucks because the food is generally pretty good but they just seem understaffed? And the wait time is long no matter what day or time we've gone on the weekend. So be prepared to wait a loooong time for food that may or may not be warm and hopefully your server is better than ours have been. Because there's a reason all these high rated reviews are talking about the food and not the service lol
