The sandwich was just o.k. Bun was pretty dry and all the veggies(cucumber/carrots/jalapeno's) were not fresh, looked old. I prefer the other places around the corner.
Came for the Chinatown dining week special. $10 for a full sized sub and an iced coffee, it's a great deal. The banh mi is a bit smaller compared to other places I've gone to in Chinatown (e.g Nhoa Hoa 2). The iced coffee flavor was nice and strong, but it was a bit too sweet for my liking. I tried to ask for less sweet, but their ice coffee is pre mixed, so they could not adjust the sweetness. To make things more customizable, they could have some plain coffee available to mix and make it less sweet. Overall a good deal, and it tastes good, but I would probably still stick with the other banh mi shop my family goes to if there isn't a deal going on.

I dropped into Van Loc a few days ago when I was passing through downtown and wanted to grab a quick late lunch.
Van Loc has a fair priced banh Mi sandwiche, I got mine with extra meat though I think you need to get extra meat and extra veggies as they only put 1 single piece of cucumber on each half, which feels a little lacking. Fair amount of pickled carrots and jalapeno peppers, but one single cucumber per half of sandwich is too little. Maybe charge 25 cents more and double it?
The chicken satay sandwich was 10.50, plus 2.50 for extra meat, so $13 and at $13 1 single piece of cucumber is too little(per half of sandwich). Though paying an extra $1 for extra feels a bit much.
Regardless it was a very delicious sandwich, service was quick and they at least have a couple tables and chairs to sit down. Where as other downtown banh mi sandwich places I've been to have no tables and chairs or super limited seating.
To truly enjoy a banh mi sandwich you need to be able to sit down and enjoy it fresh, not take it to go.
Also they dont plastic wrap their sandwiches, so be careful when carrying it.
Super tasty sandwich, just get double meat and extra veggies. So it would be $14, which is better than subway.

Decent banh mi. Got the assorted cold cuts. Pate isn't the same as before and the bread seems different.

Overall food was great. I had the BBQ Pork Banh Mi. 10/10 as well as the ice coffee. The atmosphere definitely has a mom and pop type vibe but could be more cleaned up and professional.

Great sandwiches at reasonable prices. This is a small ask, but I was wondering if you could start including the calories and macros on the website? Thanks.

The banh mis are good, but my favourite is their viet coffee. Very strong flavour and the perfect sweetness!

I've been a loyal customer for quite some time, and the food used to be fantastic! The sandwiches were always flavorful and a great value with consistent quality. However, over the last few visits, I've noticed a decline in the quality. The sandwich wasn't as tasty as I remembered, and the flavor seemed a bit off. This last visit, the meat in the banh mi felt unseasoned and lacked the punch I am accustomed to.
