Just undeniably the whim strikes for their curry's, oft time. Grest quality and a very quaint setting. Great atmosphere and a stones throw from edge of river valley -> solid place for a nice date.

We went with a kid and table had four glasses . Asked the server to leave the fourth glass on the table. He/she completely ignored and when asked why did you not leave it . He asked us to leave .
Could not really understand the temperament of the server . Worst customer service Experienced on edmonton or anywhere else in the world. People with such attitudes should not allowed to work in service sector to ruin other peoples day.

Or may be the person the downright racist !

Delicious food! We ordered online for pickup. Would absolutely eat here again!

We hadn't been out to Viphalay since before covid. My husband wanted to go for Thai, it did not disappoint. Food was flavorful, portions were great, including ratio of protein in each dish. Service was great. We also laugh and enjoy our experience. Even with all the new restaurants in Edmonton, Viphalays food and service stands out. Thank you for the great evening.

We had a deeply disappointing and concerning experience with Viphalay Laos restaurant through Uber Eats. We specifically requested that our curry dishes be made vegan due to my spouse's seafood allergy. At no point during our first order were we informed that the curry sauces contained shrimp paste by default—something that should absolutely be disclosed, especially when a customer clearly states dietary restrictions and allergy concerns.

Trusting that our request had been honored, we ate the food and unfortunately, my spouse became very ill. At the time, we didn’t suspect the food, thinking our dietary request had been taken seriously. Weeks later, we ordered the same dishes again—making the same vegan request due to dietary restrictions—only to be told this time that they could not make the curries vegan because the shrimp paste was already in the base sauces. This means that the first time, our request was completely ignored or misunderstood, and the ingredients were not disclosed, despite our clear communication.

This kind of oversight is not only disappointing but dangerous. We trusted the restaurant with a serious allergy, and that trust was broken. It's unacceptable for ingredients like shrimp paste to be hidden, especially when customers raise dietary needs. We won’t be ordering from Viphalay again, and I sincerely hope they improve their transparency and allergy awareness moving forward.

What is the point of noting dietary restrictions if they’re not taken seriously or respected?

We were here for the first time last evening. Food was amazing, service too and you cannot beat the price. We will be back.

I was looking for good ✨️Pad Thai, which we don't have in Calgary.

An Edmonton staple when it comes to Thai food. You know restaurants adapted from homes are always the best. You would call it a hole in the wall if it wasn't so famous. Pad Thai is great, so far all the curries I've tried are great. Lunch meat deals every day. About $20 for any lunch there. I love the brown curry.

Vegetarian options: All curries can be served with tofu or veg.

Some of the best Thai food I've had in Canada and I have been to Thailand.
The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful should you have any questions about any dishes. Food was quick and delicious. The special appetizer of Shrimp in red wine sauce is devine.

Good food, but the customer service was terrible. The guy said “we’re closing so start licking your ice cream or else we’ll make you do all our work.” It wasn’t funny like that because we haven’t been making jokes with him and he kinda said it out of the blue. Then he left the cheque for us to divide among ourselves.
