This isn't the first time I've been here, but tonight was an absolutely fantastic night for my wife and I. We walked in without a reservation so we expected a bit of a wait, but it seems some things were miscommunicated amongst the staff so we had to wait maybe a few minutes longer than normal. This was no issue to my wife and I, but the staff made it their mission to ensure we had the most pleasurable experience we could've asked for; from a nicer seat in the house to complimentary miso soup and even a complimentary ice cream to finish our date night off, they went above and beyond our expectations and left both my wife and I with a deep sense of appreciation for this gem of a restaurant and our proximity to it. Thank you to the wonderful people who prop up this fantastic eatery! (Oh, and it's plenty affordable for a filling meal even without the extras!)

Fantastic food! And the booths offer a level of privacy you don't see too often. I will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely delightful restaurant that we stumbled upon while we traveling through Edmonton. The outside doesn't look like much, but the inside is well decorated and thought out. Tables are insulated from each other with wall positions so each spot feels intimate and cozy.
Servers are efficient, considerate and very kind. They were attentive without being overbearing, this doesn't strike me as a place where you would be forgotten.
Food was very high quality. My husband was in love with their Toro, it was fresh with generous portions and incredibly tasty!
We'll come back again, hopefully soon.

Ireally like the chicken karaage and tempura here, they’re amazing!
Reasonable cost for some of the best sushi in Edmonton. They have the most unique rolls I've found anywhere in the city! We go every few months! We bring our young kids (which is a bit chaotic) and they are very kind about it .
Yokozuna was recommended to us by one of our Japanese friends as one of the few authentic Japanese sushi places in Edmonton, and it did not disappoint! We have been coming here for more than two years now, and it continues to be one of our favorite spots for authentic Japanese food.
The menu is large, fairly priced, and designed in izakaya style, so you can order multiple dishes and share. Over time, we’ve had a chance to try a variety of items and keep coming back for more. The skewers, sushi, and sashimi are standouts — always fresh and flavorful. The miso soup is comforting, and the clear soup is light and pleasant. Their teas pair perfectly with the meal and are a must when dining in.
For dessert, the sesame ice cream is a true highlight — nutty, rich, and memorable. The mango ice cream was also a pleasant surprise, with a fresh and natural taste that rounded out the meal beautifully.
On rare occasions, the rice hasn’t had the same fresh texture we usually enjoy — perhaps depending on the timing of our visit. Most of the time it’s spot-on, but once in a while it can be less than ideal. That said, the overall consistency of the food has kept us returning regularly.
The restaurant itself has plenty of seating options — booths, tables, bar seating, and even room-style sections with tall walls for added privacy. Service has always been fast and attentive, even when busy, and the calm, unhurried atmosphere makes it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal.
Our only wish is that one day they start offering fatty salmon sashimi or sushi. It would be a perfect addition to an already excellent menu.
Overall, Yokozuna offers consistently great food, attentive service, and a peaceful atmosphere. A wonderful choice for anyone looking for a quality Japanese dining experience in Edmonton.
