Better than Fred’s is truly the place to go for an outstanding night out and a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are consistently welcoming and attentive you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door.
My husband and I come here at least once a week, and as a passionate foodie, I can honestly say the food is always topnotch. Every dish is full of flavor and beautifully prepared. On occasion, the service can be a little slower than I’d prefer, but that’s only because I’m impatient the quality and experience more than make up for it.
This is one of our absolute favorite spots, and I truly believe everyone should try it. Better than Fred’s has a way of winning your heart.

This place is amazing! It has always been a great part of our community. Locally owned and managed. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and helpful staff. I personally enjoy coming in at the slower times for the great food. (11:00-11:45am) The soups are always amazing and homemade. BBQ menu is amazing! Better Than Fred's also is known for having live music. Over the past 20+ years, there have been some really good names who have taken that stage. One of the times Danko Jones played Fred's, Atom Willard was the drummer they had filling in on that specific tour! Great drummer who has worked with many great bands. I feel that Better Than Fred's is a more friendly, enjoyable, and safe bar in Grande Prairie compared to some other popular locations. If you are visiting Grande Prairie and are downtown. Give it a try!
