I ordered wor wonton soup and Cantonese chow mein. I received a flavorless wor wonton soup and and a soggy noodle contraption that certainly wasn't Cantonese chow mein. Unfortunately the dishes were unedible. They all ended up in the garbage. Save yourself the hassle and order from somewhere else. This was just gross.

My wife is celiac and I was totally surprised and impressed!!!
We were travelling to northern Alberta and my wife suggested this restaurant as she had enjoyed it years ago. Unfortunately she is now celiac and celiac and Chinese food don’t usually work hand in hand.
She called the restaurant and they told her they could accommodate her dietary requirements. So we gave it a shot.
I’ve had gluten free Chinese food before and it can be a real miss, even at great restaurants.
Well this was very good!!! And more importantly no problems arose in the later days. I was amazed!! The service, the food and the attention to detail were all great.
I would strongly recommend the restaurant and if your celiac this is a real treat if you like Chinese food!!

Golden Star is hands down one of the best spots in Grande Prairie for Chinese food! The egg rolls are perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside—absolutely the best I’ve had in a long time. The almond chicken is incredible as well—tender, juicy, and topped with that classic golden batter and almond crunch that keeps you coming back for more.

The service is always friendly, the portions are generous, and the food comes out fresh and hot every time. If you’re craving great Chinese food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend Golden Star!

We have been going here for 42 years for our anniversary dinner. This year we waited at the front for 10 minutes to be seated in a basically empty restaurant. Once seated we waited Another couple came in 5 minutes after us and were served. We waited another 10 minutes after with nobody even looking our way. There were 6 other tables of 2-3 people in the entire restaurant. Ended up leaving. Ken would have never accepted that kind of service. Time for change.

More often than not the food is great, lately it seems like it is going down hill which is sad to see. There has been a few changes that we dont like since owners have been swapped. Like the chowmein meat tastes off most times and how their prices seem so astronomical. The veggies are not cooked enough most times and very limited for quantity. We used to go once every month but skip to once every couple months now. The sit-down area is clean and beautiful, and the service is always friendly and exceptional.

Went for dinner and had ordered a food that is good for 6. Oh my, serving is just so massive and price is reasonable. The staff are so nice as well. The environment is also lovely. Good job! Well go back definitely ❤️

SALT BOMB! I ordered wor wonton soup as I was not feeling the greatest and that usually makes me feel better, but nope. My husband had four bites of his food and couldn't eat anymore.
And the tiny flying ants in the restaurant is a very big no for me definitely when they land on food and in drinks

Excellent food, clean atmosphere and excellent service. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for top tier western style Chinese food. The Ice tea was refreshing and the food was the best Chinese we’ve had in years. We enjoyed sweet and sour pork, special egg foo-yung and Cantonese chow-mien. We will definitely be back for our next date night when we’re craving Chinese!
