Golden Star is hands down one of the best spots in Grande Prairie for Chinese food! The egg rolls are perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside—absolutely the best I’ve had in a long time. The almond chicken is incredible as well—tender, juicy, and topped with that classic golden batter and almond crunch that keeps you coming back for more.

The service is always friendly, the portions are generous, and the food comes out fresh and hot every time. If you’re craving great Chinese food, this is the place to go. Highly recommend Golden Star!

First time I have been here since new owners, food is still excellent, service top notch

We have been going here for 42 years for our anniversary dinner. This year we waited at the front for 10 minutes to be seated in a basically empty restaurant. Once seated we waited Another couple came in 5 minutes after us and were served. We waited another 10 minutes after with nobody even looking our way. There were 6 other tables of 2-3 people in the entire restaurant. Ended up leaving. Ken would have never accepted that kind of service. Time for change.

More often than not the food is great, lately it seems like it is going down hill which is sad to see. There has been a few changes that we dont like since owners have been swapped. Like the chowmein meat tastes off most times and how their prices seem so astronomical. The veggies are not cooked enough most times and very limited for quantity. We used to go once every month but skip to once every couple months now. The sit-down area is clean and beautiful, and the service is always friendly and exceptional.

Went for dinner and had ordered a food that is good for 6. Oh my, serving is just so massive and price is reasonable. The staff are so nice as well. The environment is also lovely. Good job! Well go back definitely ❤️

SALT BOMB! I ordered wor wonton soup as I was not feeling the greatest and that usually makes me feel better, but nope. My husband had four bites of his food and couldn't eat anymore.
And the tiny flying ants in the restaurant is a very big no for me definitely when they land on food and in drinks

Excellent food, clean atmosphere and excellent service. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for top tier western style Chinese food. The Ice tea was refreshing and the food was the best Chinese we’ve had in years. We enjoyed sweet and sour pork, special egg foo-yung and Cantonese chow-mien. We will definitely be back for our next date night when we’re craving Chinese!

We have been here several times and we have not been disappointed once. Some of the items on the menu were surprisingly good, such as the cream cheese with crab meat for their appetizers, portion sizes were fair compared to prices, I would reccomend this place if you are craving western Asian food

Low flavour in the soup and it gave me and my cousins food poisoning

The only thing that I liked was the gold fish swimming under the bridge inside the restaurant. The service was terrible it took them 40 minutes to get watery tea and the food was even worse. I got combination B and it had 3 things in that combination and I was only able to swallow 1 small bite of each item and if I could have spit it out I would have. The only reason why I didn't was because I was invited out for supper for my friend's birthday. The only thing that they have going for this restaurant was the bridge and goldfish swimming around in the pool. Everything else was terrible we couldn't even get napkins from the server's and we asked multiple times
