Decor: European Hunting Lodge ??, exposed beams, vaulted roof, fully dressed table, comfortable chairs.
Service: Patchy. Table wasn't ready at reserved time, so a 15 min wait. Soft drink order was filled quickly, but wine order didn't arrive until one of our group chased it up. Water wasn't topped up at all during the meal. Waiter was friendly and well informed, but service was very slow. 1 hour from ordering entrees until we received them. Another hour before our mains were delivered (and we had to chase up the waiter to get them. We were told the delay was caused by the need to make more potato puree???). Asked for dessert to be brought as soon as the main course was delivered, and this was done, but by then, 2 members of our group had had given up and left.
Ambience: A major problem this night. The restaurant has no air conditioning, no windows and no fans. The outside temperature was 33⁰ C and the restaurant was oppressively hot and close. Surely the restaurant could have provided free standing fans to circulate the air, and ensured that cold water was provided at all times for the guests. Similarly it would have helped if the food could have been brought out in a more timely fashion so we could have been out of the heat more quickly. Dining here was significantly unpleasant because of this.
Menu: Reasonable range of interesting food, including Bison, steak, salads, etc
Food: Excellent! Beautifully cooked and presented, tasty, succulent.
Prices: Average for the quality of food
Recommendation: We'd eat here again, but only in winter and hopefully with faster service.

4 stars
We ordered T-bone and a 3-course dinner (including salad, main course, and dessert). The portion was quite big so we shared as a family. T-bone was well cooked and the meat was tender.
The service was great and we enjoyed our dinner here. I gave 4 stars because it was a little pricey (which I totally understand because it was quite luxurious). Although there were still plenty of options in Fairmont lodge, the nook was the only place with no wait time.

I think they are still trying to figure out what exactly they are. They say a steakhouse but don't know how to cook a steak. The wedge salad was absolutely ridiculous. A big hunk of lettuce, no dressing and very few toppings. Also, you are pretty much dining in an old ball room. No windows so the ambience isn't great.
Our server Caitlin was incredibly professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. The food was top notch. I had the rack of lamb and it was mouth wateringly good. Atmosphere is lovely. And again, our server Caitlin just went the extra mile to make everything amazing. We will be back.

The brunch was horrible, ice cold food and for 89? To eat cold eggs Benny where I can go to smittys for 20$$
Our recent visit to The Nook Steak House was an experience that tested our patience but ultimately rewarded it with a delightful dining experience.Upon arrival, we found ourselves waiting for approximately 15 minutes before someone attended to our table. While the initial delay was a bit off-putting, the subsequent service more than made up for it. The staff, once engaged, was attentive, friendly, and made genuine efforts to ensure our satisfaction throughout the meal.As for the culinary aspect, The Nook truly excelled. The steak, cooked to perfection, was a carnivore's delight. Each bite was a flavorful journey, and the quality of the meat was evident. The menu offered a variety of cuts and accompaniments, providing options for every palate. we didn't like the chimichurri sauce it was to vinegary. But the mash potato pure was delicius. The ambiance of The Nook complemented the dining experience, with a cozy and intimate setting that added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. While the initial service hiccup was noticeable, the attentive staff, coupled with the exceptional food quality, ultimately left us with a positive impression of The Nook Steak House. If you're willing to exercise a bit of patience, the reward is a memorable steakhouse experience that is worth savoring.?? #SteakhouseDelight #FoodieAdventure

The hallway leading to the entrance was very unappealing (lined with about 15 empty coatracks - something I would not expect at a Fairmont hotel). We were the first reservation of the evening and were initially seated in a back corner. We asked to be moved up toward the fireplace and were reluctantly taken care of (this was prior to us having sat down at all.) The first course was too salty to enjoy. Main courses were average. And the apple tart was nice. They did, however, forget the ice cream for the tart - and we had to ask for it specifically. On the plus side, as we were celebrating our anniversary, the waitress comped our two drinks and the dessert (the dessert partially because they had forgotten the ice cream.) The fireplace -and fire- was enjoyable but, the layout of the room was awkward and it seemed the decor was “thrown in” randomly.
I ordered the Alberta short rib and it came out cold. My waitress Anikka was barely at the table. AndI found she was rude. The service didn’t meet the standards of a nice expensive restaurant.
We were at the Nook on December 29, 2023 and our server Jason was the best server we have ever had at a restaurant. He was beyond polite, extremely nice and friendly and was always coming to check on us and our food/drinks. The food was amazing and atmosphere was lovely. The only thing I would say they could improve on would be the height of the 4 top tables. It felt like we were sitting at a kids table but it was easy to look past. Again, Jason was phenomenal and deserves a raise or bonus. Thank you for the great experience, we will definitely be back!
Great food and ambience. Quieter than the main lounge. Highly recommend the fondue. The staff were great.
We started with the beef tartar and crab cake. Shared the waygu (butchers cut). Their cocktails and kids menu is also fantastic! Our server was very friendly and gave us great menu direction. The live music and wood fire were very ambient. Would highly recommend The Nook during your stay at JPL.
