The Beefeater Steakhouse

I had surgery on my knee on Tuesday and we went to the Beefeater hit dinner. The staff was fantastic, good exceptional and would drive from Calgary again just for this experience. Thank you!

We used to love this steakhouse, but our anniversary dinner was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. First, we were told the prime rib was “cooked to order,” which makes me question if the new owners even understand what prime rib is. I opted for the ribeye instead, but what I got was barely edible—comparable to a $5 steak sandwich. The waitress was far from pleasant, and after I raised a concern, she never returned to our table. We ordered an appetizer that never arrived. The manager tried to lecture me about what a ribeye is, despite my lifelong experience as a rancher who’s enjoyed countless rib steaks. To top it off, their once-amazing cheesecake was stale, crusty, and tasted like it had been left uncovered in a fridge for days. This was the opposite of fine dining. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s heartbreaking to see our former favorite restaurant decline so drastically.

Edit, the owner states this was a misunderstanding, we asked for clarification when we were ordering and the waitress insisted “that’s how we do it here” and even the manager said prime rib was cooked to order using the same “that’s how we do it here” line which doesn’t even make sense.

It was our Anniversary and I want to take my wife to a special place. The Beefeater Steakhouse seemed a little pricy. But but the portions you get are a good size. And they were delicious. The service was great. And it was refreshing to see the female staff there were dressed modestly. All those good things are hard to find. Excellent place. I will have to try their lunch menu one day.

This place is not w/c friendly. (No ramp) The woman's bathroom..very difficult to get to a toilet

Elegant and quiet interior, attentive service, gorgeous steak - a true classic. Definitely not suited to a plant-based diet unless craving a nice salad.

Such a classy, lovely place! The new owners are doing a phomenal job. The food is second to none! The staff are wonderful, Friendly and very efficient. My hubby and I had a fantastic meal their yet again! Thank you Beefeater, let's have 48 more years of great service and superb food.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I got the 10oz sirloin, med-rare. And let me tell you when this thing was JUICY. Boyfriend got the filet mignon and well, it cut like butter. If you have the time, and the money, I would high recommend. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food came out fast, and even then it was cooked to perfection. The gravy, French fries, potatoes, the salad... all of it. Just super delicious.
Ps. If you can, get the strawberry daiquiri, it was delicious!

Had a wonderful dinner last night for my mom’s birthday, food and service were both amazing. This was my first time eating at The Beefeater, and I was not at all disappointed. Would absolutely recommend. Our server was Sue, and she was fantastic.

Wife and I stop here when ever we can. Food is always delicious and service is great. Recommend this place .

Beefeaters is the way a steak house should be. Old family run restaurant under new management who are super passionate about the food and service. The staff were great. The ambience of the restaurant was fantastic. There wasn't an additional charge for sides. You just needed to choose what you wanted. The glass enclosed broiler room was seen throughout the dining room. Watching the chef walk in the broiler room check each steak and make adjustments in a matter of a minute was entertaining. Our ribeyes were perfectly cooked.

Excellent service and absolutely superb steak. Ambiance was very nice. Will definitely go there again next time I am in the Hat.

A Fantastic Experience at The Beefeater Steakhouse!

We had dinner at The Beefeater Steakhouse in Medicine Hat last night, and honestly, it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the place had a great vibe - warm, welcoming, and a little upscale without being stuffy.

We were looked after by Simone, the Assistant Manager, and Brittney, who’s currently in training. Both of them were absolutely wonderful - friendly, professional, and really on top of things. Service like that is hard to come by these days, and they made the whole experience even better.

We both had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly - tender, juicy, and full of flavour. What we really loved though, was the baked potato service. They actually bring a carousel to your table with all the toppings - butter, sour cream, chives, bacon bits - and serve it right there. It’s been decades since we’ve seen that done, and it added such a fun, nostalgic touch.

The restaurant itself feels classy, with linen tablecloths and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. You can tell they take pride in what they do, from the food to the service to the setting.

They say on their website that it’s a dining experience unlike anything else in Medicine Hat - and we have to agree. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town. If you're passing through or live nearby, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Wasn’t too pleased with tonight’s visit. Service wasn’t quick despite a half full lounge. Steaks were 1/2” thick and reminded me of Walmart quality. A $78 dollar meal shouldn’t come with 4 mini potatoes and over steamed beans. I have no problem paying good money for a great steak but the quality of the steaks tonight were absolutely subpar and not even close to steakhouse quality. Might take a while for me to forget this experience before I visit again.
