A delightful and unexpected find in the heart of Medicine Hat! We drove to the area to find the Japanese restaurant we were seeking was closed for a family event. Fortunately, we’d walked past the Mexican Hat on the way, and decided to give it a go. What a great, welcoming staff and a very good chef. Our foursome ordered tacos al pastor, veggie tacos, and tacos alahombre. Each was served street-style, with great corn tortillas. Ordered beans and rice on the side..also excellent, along with the salsa bar!
Atmosphere was perfect…earthy Mexican diner style and reasonable prices! We really enjoyed chatting with the staff. They are great people and need your patronage!

The Mexican Hat is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots whenever I visit Medicine Hat. I've only been a couple of times, but each visit has been memorable. We were greeted by one of the friendliest women I’ve ever met—so pleasant and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing, came out quickly, and exceeded expectations every time. This place is truly a hidden gem in Medicine Hat and absolutely worth a visit. Plus, the name is perfect too!

this venue is small; having just a few tables, but the portions certainly are not!! food is delicious and authentic, easily the best mexican food medicine hat has to offer. i neglected to take photos, but we heartily recommend anything on the menu, it’s all very, very good.👍 😋 we had to ask for takeout containers, we couldn’t possibly eat it all, our tummies were hurting, they were so stuffed.

Hands down, the best South American restaurant in Medicine Hat. Everything is fresh and high quality. Good selection of options for picky eaters. The staff is ALWAYS happy and the service is top notch. Can’t beat this place if you’re hungry.
The service was so good/friendly. The portion sizes were large but it just didn't taste very good at all. As a lover of Mexican food who loves trying little Mexican places, this place just didn't deliver on flavor. Both myself and my dining partner agreed on this. They have a hot sauce buffet with uncovered hot sauces which I was excited to try but none of them tasted good to us and none were hot. We wondered if them being uncovered contributed to the slightly odd flavor.
The place is cute, the people seem great, but that all matters a bit less when the food isn't good.
