Charming Ice Cream Spot with Unique Ambiance
If you’re a fan of ice cream served in creative styles, this is a must-visit! Besides ice cream, they offer a range of snacks, including fries and burgers. The parlour is complemented by a delightful garden with a small playground and toys for children, making it a family-friendly spot.

Located right by the road, it can be a bit noisy—something to consider if you’re seeking a tranquil atmosphere. However, the quality of the food and the picturesque surroundings more than make up for it. The building has a whimsical, fairy-tale-like charm, reminiscent of old Cinderella-style houses, offering a perfect backdrop for photos.

A lively, fun spot for an outing, though perhaps less ideal if you’re after a serene retreat.

We have tried most items on the menu here because we keep coming back! The food is always fantastic, seems like everything is made in house and is always fresh and hot. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and carefully prepares the our meals. Not even the pickiest of us has had any complaints and they always ask for us to bring them back for more. 100% would recommend.

If the the large poutine can feed a family, the family size must be able to feed a hungry biker gang. When I ordered the large size, I didn’t expect a bucket, but for $11 I got one. It must have had 6 fresh cut potatoes, a pound of gravy, and another pound of the best pizza mozzarella money can buy. Price was extremely reasonable, and was hot, fresh and came to the window quickly. One of the last bastions of hope on the plains of Alberta while road tripping, I finally came across a true diner joint that is reminiscent of something you’d see 50 years ago. I’ll be back when I am in the area.

TLDR; Julian was first cook I ever worked with a decade+ ago somewhere else. He yelled and scared poor teenage me a bit that first day, DESPITE THIS I am loyal to his AMAZING food. And I now know line cooks can just be a lil intense sometimes ;). GO EAT HERE.

So, 15ish years ago Julian was the first cook I ever worked with as a waitress in a small town hotel. Not gonna lie, the man intimidated me that cold winter morning at 5:30am as I was learning the ropes of the restaurant world. As cooks can be, he was loud, a bit blunt. BUT he put out top tier food.

I come back here years and years later to say I now frequent Asteroid every single summer. My boyfriend and I take pride in being one of the first customers of the season. I have tried (without exaggeration) dozens of homemade burgers across Alberta. It is one of my hobbies haha. The search for the perfect burg. Julian is yet to be beat. Others come close but I always find myself going “good, but it’s not asteroid…”. Top quality ingredients that Julian diligently sources combined with his passion for the culinary world makes this little small town burger place better than any other. Julian knows how to combine flavours & cook them together so you get a little beautiful explosion of heaven in each bite.

Aside from the beef burgers which can’t be beat anywhere in AB as of yet, his fries, gravy & chicken fingers are also INSANE. Delicious. I get a very specific craving for Julian’s chicken fingers that no other tendy can curb.

GO EAT HERE NOW. GO!!!

My partner, kids and I stopped here. Vibe certainly more chill than some of the other touristy places around here. The vintage aesthetic was cute. Nice spacious patio with a garden and slide with toys for kids to run around. We got ice cream and fries. The fries were home cut and lovely golden brown. The old fashioned canteen type that are hard to find these days. Great stop if you have little kids. Friendly staff. Would come again.

Stopped here on our Drumheller travels and I’m glad we did! They were out of onion rings and the owner made up for it by giving my family a huge bowl of fries and free candy. The food was amazing and so was the service, highly recommend!

We try to come here anytime we are in the Drumheller area. Amazing fries, great burgers. Wait time can be a bit longer if they are busy, but is definitely worth it.

The food was overrated. The service was friendly but the screwed up my wife's classic burger. It wasn't that busy and I would expect that an order of only two burgers would not be screwed up. She received the cheeseburger when she asked for a classic burger which is no cheese and ask for extra onions and the cheeseburger had none. The outdoor patio area had a wasp problem as well. Being allergic to them I had to have us leave earlier than planned. The prices are fairly steep too for a burger. Not recommended by this reviewer.
