I came in this morning for coffee, and the girl made me hands down the most delicious coffee I’ve ever had. On her recommendation, I also tried a perfectly balanced bun, and honestly, it made my morning absolutely perfect. The service was warm, the flavors were incredible, and I left with a huge smile. I can’t wait to come back and try everything on the menu — this place is a true treasure trove of flavors!

Came in after looking at the video on IG... very rude server.
Ordered mango madness, not good at all.. saw the server preparing it with club soda but cpuld see the machine is not working... when asked if it's supposed to be fizzy.. she replied super rudely it's supposed to be the way I made it.
Also ordered some food.. when asked it's supposed to be warm, again very rudely replied.. you can just ask me.. it was slightly warm from outside..

The Ukaranian latte is actually not bad..
But service. Is POOR!
DONT COME IF YOU WANT TO JUST WANT TO CHILL...

I love the food from here, I usually go to the one in Edmonton so I was glad to see one close by when in Sherwood Park today.

Flavours and generous portions come with everything you order.

Just the one lady working hard dealing with the lunchtime rush. The queue was worked through quickly.

Nice little touch that there’s a car showroom to look into next door.

Had the pleasure of visiting Malina Ukrainian Bakery in person, and it truly felt like home!
Thank you, Anna, for upholding such high standards of service and food quality! Every bite was delicious, authentic, and comforting. The atmosphere is welcoming, and it’s clear a lot of heart goes into everything here.
If I’m around YEG, I’ll definitely be stopping by again for lunch.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for genuine Ukrainian flavors and friendly service!

I purchased 6 pastries on Saturday afternoon (September 6, 2025).
Sunday morning all my pastries are hard and stale. The strawberry cream cheese Danish type pastry has mold forming on top of it. This makes me believe that these pastries were already old when sold. This is disappointing as I spent about $38. Will not return.

I ordered nalysnyky with chicken and mushrooms for lunch, to go. Was I enjoying this meal? Honestly, I ate it because for the price it cost, I felt I had to. Would I order it again or recommend it to someone? No.
The nalysnyk had no flavor at all — the filling was barely noticeable under so many layers of crepe, hiding the real taste that a nalysnyk should have. I took quite a while deciding what to order. I was about to choose the ones with cottage cheese, but I thought that would be more of a dessert, and I wasn’t in the mood for anything sweet, so I went for the chicken version — but the taste was basically bland and (what I really didn’t get) I noticed sweet notes, as if sugar had been added to the filling.

If I remember correctly, I once saw another review where someone complained the food here didn’t taste Ukrainian. I’m not trying to throw the whole place under the bus, since my opinion is based only on this one order — I had never ordered from this bakery before. But come on… putting sugar or anything sweet in a chicken and mushroom filling? That’s definitely not Ukrainian. By the way, the sour cream really did taste sour (old).

In short — I don’t recommend this dish, it’s not worth it. I hope to change my mind with other dishes from this place, since they’re all over Instagram and have many positive reviews (hopefully not from people who work there, as that’s a pretty common practice). Sorry, I can’t give more stars — I feel disappointed.

Tried the smoked salmon sandwich and was pleasantly surprised!

Would also like to recommend Malina for their Ukrainian Latte. Have not had such a wonderful coffee...at least since being in Europe.
Such a delectable treat for the senses!
Thank you 💕

I’d love to share my great experience at Backers Malina in Edmonton! 🥐

The pastries are delicious — especially the sausage roll! Fresh, aromatic, with a crispy crust and soft dough.

The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Everything feels made with care and love.

We’ll definitely come back again and recommend it to our friends! 💕
