By far the best fish in Edmonton.
Dined in here for Mother’s day. MIL is Celiac and this restaurant had an amazing variety of gluten free choices, including the fish and chips. My brother in law is also keto and the restaurant was gracious enough to bake a salmon for him even though it’s not on the menu. Service is stellar. Food is good. Ordered the cod, just one serving was more than enough for me. Crispy but light breading, fish is tender and not dry. Also had the clam soup, I thought the serving was small but it was actually so filling as it had lots of clam I didn’t need more than the serving size.
We also had a free dessert, the sticky toffee pudding for mother’s day. Big thanks to the owner for celebrating us Moms with a treat.
Owner is extremely passionate about the place, food and service.
Went here for dinner and was very impressed. Not only was the food excellent (I'm looking at you mushy pea fritters), but the service and atmosphere were really enjoyable. Our server was genuinely friendly and helpful, which I really appreciate.
The toffee pudding is on a new level of good.
Nice, quaint little English fish & chip shop! The food was excellent and service awesome!
Please refresh your washrooms! 🤢
If you like 2 small pcs of fish coated in a non tasty 1/2 inch of batter on both sides and a $4 small bowl of powdered gravy then this place is for you! $27 for 2 very small pcs of fish. I should've taken pictures. Looks like these might be new owners. Fries were also cold and gravy horrible. WiLL NOT be going back even if it was free
As a celiac it is a treat to find somewhere to get great gluten free fish and chips! Service was super friendly and would definitely recommend.
The Food was amazing, the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The service was prompt and amazing. A must visit restaurant
Love this hidden gem. Wife and I came for an impromptu date night. As good, if not better, than traditional spots in the UK. Owner told us the fascinating backstory of the business and its secret, unique recipe. Come check it out!
Stopped in Friday, ordered 2 piece cod chips and peas, wait time approximately 20 minutes, fish was tasteless unable to tell if it was cod or pollock? Overall not impressed with Winston's won't be going back.

Very filling fish meals, a bit pricey but you do get pretty big heavily battered fish. Just as with just about all the tartar sauces I have tried, it paled pretty badly in comparison to joeys. Added some ketchup to it (*shocked gasps* I know, 'he added ketchup to tartar sauce!' it did make up for my preferences a good bit)
The staff and service was very good in my opinion, very positive and friendly. The manager or owner strikes me as a nice guy.
The atmosphere, hmmm, now how can I put it. The theme is British of course, especially when the name is. But man does it ever scream 'long live the queen' in the most British of fashions (never had a love for any patriotic stuff from any country myself). But that is not really my main point on the three stars, my problem has to do with the conflicting atmosphere, when I visited, they had extremely quite soft music playing, while having some very conflicting music playing near the entrance.
Beyond that, it is a well earned five in my opinion, not the best, but certainly up there and respectable.
Smells good from the moment you walk in the door - good food - fairly priced
Food was good. I ordered 2 piece halibut and chips, small amounts of fries, which is unfortunate because they were actually the best part of the meal. Coleslaw was also tasty. So no issue with the food but I just can't get over the almost $50 price tag for the 2 pieces of halibut and handful of chips. So food was tasty but too expensive for the small portions. Also paid extra for extra tartar sauce and though it was very tasty, the containers very tiny & were both not even filled half way so really wasn't even sufficient for one piece of fish, let alone two
What an amazing place!! Best fish and chips around. Emma is the best server anywhere!!
Started off ok. Came recommend by a friend. I'm sure the food is fine. But the reason for the review is this. Placed a take out order, paid 53$ for a one person two piece dinner, get to my hotel 6 min away and the drink is missing for which I had paid 3$. Calling the restaurant, I'm told they don't deliver and I need to come back for the drink. That's another 15 min of driving while the food gets soggy. I say ok then, I'll bring it back and want full refund, Pinky the cashier and lady I picked up the order from said OK, fine come and get refund. I come and they tell me no refund, here is your drink. So in short, I left with no refund, no food and a whole lot of attitude. I do not wish to give my business to such people. No matter if their food is good. They themselves are awful and rude. Also told me 10 minutes for owner to arrive and wasted another 30 minutes of my time. I left without waiting any longer.
Keep the money! You clearly need it more than I. I sincerely hope this review will at least turn away some folks strictly for the fact you as a business do not value your customers.
