Ohana-Ya Japanese Restaurant

My family and I love going to Ohana-Ya. We choose to have dinner there quite often. They always have great food, excellent service, and the staff are always very kind. This year they handed out flowers for Valentine’s Day. It was a very nice touch.

Came here based on a friends recommendation and we thought it was good. We got the Ohana-ya combo for 2 which came with a variety of sashimi, nigiris, and rolls. They have daily specials so we got 15% off this sushi combo. Would recommend this place for value sushi.

Honestly I love this place. They don’t ask questions, they have an amazing sitting space and in my opinion needs more people to try. It’s so much better than the competitors and it makes it feel like you’re in Japan.

Terrible sushi… probably the worse I ever had. So much rice and not fresh rice either. The shrimps still have that black vein in them. Which I found so gross and I found that it shows a lack of effort. Also very overpriced. 24$ for a roll…..? Would not recommend. Ended up throwing 3/4 of it in the garbage.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet! If you want to enjoy your food in peace, this is a good place to be. Servers are attentive, and food comes within a good time. I’ve been going here for years, so it’s tried and true :)

Update: I just finished my hamachi and sockeye salmon nigiri. Omg! It’s melt in your mouth. So buttery soft! And the taste is super clean. Not fishy at all, literally. The green tea is also served at the perfect temperature. You won’t burn your tongue.

This is my go to, favourite Japanese restaurant. The food tastes like it was made with love and passion. Sashimi is thick and fresh, the ramen is hearty and satisfying, the rolls are always consistent and they don't skimp on ingredients! I love the dinner teishoku sets because you get a little bit of everything. Good selection of ramune and Japanese beer. I live 45 mins away but will make the drive to come here.

Excellent sushi!
I really enjoy a specialty roll and these 2 did not disappoint! The bloody vampire was just the right amount of spice. The tateyama was nice, crispy, and delicious also!

We celebrated our anniversary here with our family, and it was such a lovely experience! The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and it’s very kid-friendly — they even provided learner chopsticks for our little one (as you can see in the picture), which was such a thoughtful touch.

The food was fantastic. The takoyaki tasted just as good as the ones I had in Tokyo — crispy on the outside and perfectly soft inside. The sashimi bowl was another highlight; the salmon was incredibly fresh and flavorful.

They also sell learner chopsticks, and I couldn’t resist getting two pairs to take home — a nice little souvenir from a great meal!

On top of that, the service was amazing — friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. It made our special day even more memorable.

Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic Japanese food and a family-friendly dining experience. We’ll definitely be coming back!
