Codfadder’s Chippy

The cod was Ok but the chips were just awful. They had obviously been reheated, probably from the previous day, were nearly black and completely tasteless. I threw most of them away.

I’ve been here 3 times and each time have pre-order my food, arrived the time I was told to pickup and then waited over hour to actually receive my order. This time I ordered early and arrived 15mins after was told it would be ready. Was told when I arrived it would be ready in a minute, i then wait 45mins for my ordered. Everyone in the shop had also been waiting a long time for their food and the employees just argued about what they were suppose to make so I ended up having to leave without any dinner. Unfortunately their fish is good but their ability to manage orders and times is horrendous! Never again.

Food was mediocre, dirty establishment.Fish was crunchy and not overly oily. Which was good. No flavour on anything.Floors were filthy, boots randomly left at the front counter.Not great. Not terrible.

I only have one complaint. It needs more flavor. And chips cooks just a few mins more. I would for sure go here again. I enjoyed it. Took my son's GF. Her first time ever eating fish. She really liked it. She got ro like fish if she's going to date newfie haha

Cold soggy fries, fish wasn’t properly cooked when I asked for crispy fries and fish.The cook put gravy all over the fish.We will never go back. Its embarrassing to serve food like that to your customers. Very expensive as well.?

I don't usually have a problem with their food, but the fish was overcooked and dry. I ordered 2 pieces of cod only and got home to find the greasiest, limp fries I have ever seen and 2 dry deep fried balls of some unknown substance. I work at a horrible job for my minimum wage so I will not be eating food from here again.

It has been good until last Thursday night, 1 pc of fish was all batter, the fries were soggy and soaked in grease. The 3.99 coleslaw tasted off, It was awful. This is the bag the grease leaked out of the container all over the seat in my car.

My 2 piece cod and chips was very over cooked. I did not complain or return the meal. I just choked it down as best as I could. The service was good and restaurant was clean. Ample parking.

Food was not good. The cheese wasn't melted on the fries that were over cooked, and the gravy was really salty. Food was cold and on top of that the owner spent the entire time speaking extremely loudly to someone running ads. They got on the topic of climate change and it made a very tense environment.

We love the fish and chips here. (Not sure why Slave Lake is under the location in Tripadvisor.) The batter is not too think and the cod was juicy. Love the darker coloured chips made by rinsing the starch off. Now my parents go once a month too. Not greasy and great tasting.

Do not waste your money getting a large poutine, one of these cost $2.00 more. First time we ate here the food was dynamite, this time we left disappointed. Sadly, for the $40 it cost, we will not be back.

Aug 11/22Ordered halibut and chips. Tiny piece of fish so returned it. They cooked me a new piece but left me to eat the cold chips. Second piece of halibut was orange and batter wasn’t cooked all the way through. My husbands cod was very greasy and the chips were terrible. Couldn’t eat them. They at least returned our payment. Little guy running around with bare feet helping himself to food in the cooler. Dirty door handle on main door was very dirty, that should have been my first clue not to eat there. Will not return.

Mom and I were so disappointed. I stopped in there at about 4pm. I could see the fish done up sitting on the rack. No deep fryer going so the 2 orders were quick. Mom and I took it home to eat. The fries were not edible. Hard, cold and dry. The haddock was ok but that had sat out out to. Fries went in the garbage and we ate the fish which was ok. I recommend anyone going there to make sure they freshly cook it up that you don’t get the food that has been sat out for a long time. I won’t go back . Twice disappointed is enough for me.

Great little family owned fish and chip shop. Good variety on the menu at a reasonable price

Not at all what we expected. Fish was good, but very plain...charged for tartar sauce, dip for chicken and no name ketchup. Awful service as well. Lady at the counter didn't say anything at all, just stared ! Weird experience!
