“We had a very pleasant experience at The Gathering Place Co op Restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and very inviting, making it a perfect spot for casual meal or special occasion. From the moment I walked in, I can tell that the place was recently renovated, furnished with combination of antiques and modern wooden tables and chairs giving the whole place a beautiful rustic vibe. Decors of arts, with an option to buy (mostly paintings from a local artist) are hanged all over the place allowing customers for a conversation.
The menu offered a nice variety of dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Served family style, we tried the shoulder blade pulled pork with a side of parmesan french fries, both were perfectly seasoned and delicious! The size we ordered were for 2 people but the portion can be easily shared among 3. They are reasonably priced too.
Staff were very friendly. The female server was very attentive and provided us with excellent service throughout our meal, while taking the time to talk to us. I appreciate that the owner came out and talk to us as well and gave us information about some upcoming events and activities to look forward to in the spring and summer. These are some of the things that make want to come back again and try other food in their menu.
In today’s age when it’s difficult to find a restaurant where quality food and service co exist, The Gathering Place Co op Restaurant is one of the few places in Alberta that stands out and I highly recommend it. I call this restaurant a gem in the rough. Although worth a drive, it is an hour from Edmonton but if you are driving towards Fort McMurray, this is very convenient pace to order ahead of time, pick up and go.“
