“I have always loved ginger. I keep going back because of the consistency of the food and drinks. The Mac and cheese, chicken lettuce wraps and the meekrob are always delicious, but this last time that I went was so strange. I got the meekrob. The shrimp tasted fine, but oddly enough the chicken and the sausage in my dish tasted so fishy that I couldn’t even eat the meat. My boyfriend got the drunken noodles, and they were so salty that they were almost inedible. We do not complain when we go out, and I have NEVER sent food back to the kitchen. I’m not that kinda girl. I grin and bear it, but I was pretty disappointed this last time eating there. Born and raised in Alaska and local to Anchorage, it’s one of my staples, but I don’t know how much I’ll be eating there in the future.“

“Very clean restaurant and great service. I ordered the burger and brew salad and it was the tastiest, fresh salad I had in a long time. It tasted home made and I will be back for more. I also tried the blueberry lager and it was delicious and compliments the salad perfectly!“

“Terrible service, brought friends from outside of state and it was embarrassing after telling them what a "great" place. Halibut was over cooked and too much batter. The waitress made a RUDE remark about a server who dropped a plate of food. We were basically ignored. It wasn't even busy, mid-afternoon. SORRY, I still have gift cards to spend because I don't really want to go back. disappointed 😞“

“Neat bakery & retail space in Spenard. I come here to get my Franz buttermilk toaster biscuits cuz they are cheaper than other grocery stores if they even have them. It's evil how the aisle where you enter the store is all Donuts! Just daring you to get to the next aisle without grabbing something! Get the reusable shopping bag, it's really big and has a fun animal circus cookie on the bag! Sometimes wish they had a little more variety but then I would just spend more. A nice little weekend stop.“

“Today, I helped my dear friend, Sylvia, celebrate her 100th birthday at Eva's Cupcakery. Yesterday, Eva and I coordinated details via telephone so that when we arrived today Eva had it all planned. Excellent cupcakes, gracious hospitality, blue bird sky day in Anchorage, and a 100th birthday for a woman who gave and gives so much to Alaska. How could it possibly be better than that? Thank you, Eva!“

“Seward’s Folly feels purpose-built for sports fans and families/groups. The space is very clean, large, and open, with two separate bar areas that help spread out the energy. I stopped in to catch an NFL playoff game, and this place absolutely delivers on the viewing experience. There are TVs everywhere, so no matter where you sit, you’ll either have one directly in front of you or at least a great line of sight. Even better, they actually play the sound of the game, which feels increasingly rare and is a huge plus. I can’t speak to how that works when multiple games are on, but for a single big matchup, it’s ideal.

The menus are massive.....too massive. It’s great if you’re with a group of picky eaters, because there’s something for everyone, but the trade-off is that nothing really stands out as especially memorable or distinctive. It leans more crowd-pleasing than crave-worthy. My French dip, for example, was mostly bread with very little meat, which was a bit of a letdown. On the brighter side, the appetizers came out in generous portions, and their unbreaded fried wings were a nice surprise, especially in a sea of overly battered versions elsewhere.

They ALSO have pizza and cheese stick options but their pizza oven was down on the day of our visit. I’ve also heard good things about their country fried steak on the brunch menu, which we didn’t try this time but is officially on the list for a future visit.

They’ve got a full bar, a solid tap selection, and a parking lot, though parking can get tight when the place is packed. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive without hovering, which is exactly what you want when you’re focused on the game.

Bottom line: Seward’s Folly is a comfortable, reliable spot to watch sports, grab a drink, and keep a group happy. Don’t expect culinary fireworks, but if your goal is a relaxed game-day hang with good sightlines and good vibes, it checks the boxes.“

“Jewel Lake Uncle Joe's is my go-to location for pizza. I love the breadsticks. I switched it up to the Red, White, and Green vegan pizza; it is delicious!!!! The employees here are the best. They are friendly and make your order quickly. I order from here at least once a week.“
