Everything we had was excellent. We had dim sum (xiu mia, beef balls, BBQ pork bun, pork belly steam bun, red bean paste bun, Chinese pork steam bun), store fried rice noodle with beef, ice taro boba, and samanco ice cream.

I love this place. Garlic shrimp rice was very good, it’s really a comfort food. Dimsum only available during weekend. I’d like to try the sesame ball next time

A hidden gem worth the hunt!

Be careful with Google Maps. It might lead you into a small alleyway that's easy to miss. Keep your eyes peeled! Also, note that Dim Sum is weekend-only.

The menu is concise but high quality. Since everything is made fresh, they do run out of items quickly, so get there early!

Highlights for me,
- Rice Noodle Rolls: Perfectly chewy and soak up the sauce beautifully.
- Shu Mai: Classic, savory pork satisfaction.
- Egg Tarts: Delicate and not overly sweet.

This is a family-run spot that prioritizes tradition and warmth over flashy decor. It feels like a home-cooked meal.

Hong Kong Spirit is both literally and figuratively a hidden gem in Anchorage. Trust your GPS, pull into the parking lot, and keep going. The reward sits quietly in the back of the building behind an unceremonious, unlabeled door. It feels less like discovering a restaurant and more like being let in on a family secret.

Let’s set expectations clearly. This isn’t Din Tai Fung, nor is it a sprawling dim sum hall with roaming carts and order sheets. What Hong Kong Spirit offers instead is something far more personal: heartfelt, Southern-style Cantonese comfort food made with care and intention.

Dim sum is served on weekends only, and while the menu isn’t extensive, it hits the right notes. The assorted rice rolls are tender and comforting, the shu mai delivers that familiar porky satisfaction, the pork buns are warm and nostalgic, and the egg tarts alone are reason enough to return. It’s a concise lineup, but every item feels honest and delivered with care.

This is family-run cooking that prioritizes flavor, tradition, and warmth over spectacle. If you’re chasing flashy presentation or a bustling dim sum scene, look elsewhere. But if you’re after soulful Cantonese comfort food tucked behind a door you’d never notice unless you knew, Hong Kong Spirit is absolutely worth finding.

1st time here. A little out of the way location; absolutely worth it. Super friendly fast attentive service. Sit & order or pickup/takeout. Food was fantastic. Steamed pork & rice very flavorful as was braised pork ribs(super tender). Awesome egg tarts with homemade flake pastry! Nice selection of Hung Kong teas.

Hong Kong Spirit Food makes the best Pork Belly in Anchorage. Hands down. Their walking distance from my office, and their location is beautifully bright and airy. Service is always above and beyond. I cannot recommend them enough!

It's on the side of a larger building. Looks tiny on the outside but it's quite spacious on the inside. Good portions and great tasting food! Will come again

Was lookingfor authentic Chinese food when I came across Hong Kong Spirit food. The reviews were good so we went to find it it was a little off the beaten path nestled back lot on the bottom floor. We walked into a nice clean family run Chinese kitchen with a nice lady and the husband cooking they were quite busy and she let us know that they were understaffed. Because of reading the reviews I knew the food would be worth the wait I hoped! Quicker than we thought we were set at a table they accommodated the two small children we were with. And no time it seemed at all she took our order and our food came out and was nothing short of spectacular. Good portions. The price no worse than going to Mongolian dragon, and a lil cheaper in fact. the authentic flavor and cozy Chinese Cafe veirh the nicest couple that ran it! five stars!
