Decent food, not many options in the area.
At first we were told the restaurant had already closed, but then the owner went out of her way to invite us back in. That gesture alone made us feel
welcome. On top of that, the food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was warm and genuine, and we left not only full but also very grateful for such a memorable experience. Highly recommended!
Thank You!♡
We arrived just after closing time and thought we had missed our chance, but the owner kindly reopened the doors for us. That extra kindness set the tone for the whole evening. The dishes were delicious and full of flavor, and every detail showed real care and passion for good food. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and we truly appreciated the generous hospitality. A wonderful experience we won’t forget!
2 towel sets for 3 people, no hot water, arranged late check out and when we came back well before arranged time, our ice packs and cooler were stolen from the sink area. One little space heater to heat bedroom, living area, and sleeping loft, very run down cabin I’d still be mad if I only paid half price.
Left my wallet here the staff for super nice about getting it back to me showed up before the restaurant opened and a nice employee answered the door and let me in to get my wallet then I watched the owner be not very nice on the phone to her to the point she cried it was too bad. All Because she let me in to get my wallet. She was so sweet and helpful that kind of bummed me out.
10 out of 10 would NOT recommend!!
We ate at the restaurant as a late lunch. I'm glad we did
Food was not pleasant.
Great food, excellent drinks, but most of all, exceptional service.
We've been to Gwin's a couple times now on our trip and the service has really stood out. The staff, especially Izzy, has been great! They have been so friendly and helpful.
If you're on Cooper Landing for a while or just passing through, definitely stop by!
Breakfast was great. Easy, simple, straightforward. We saw oatmeal, French toast and a breakfast sandwich. All were inhaled and loved. Would definitely go again for breakfast. Nice typical Alaska roadhouse.

The wait was minimal on a busy day. The food was amazing
Salmon chowder was amazing, unfortunately no longer had GF buns
If you are in the area looking for a guided fishing trip, THIS is who you want to use. The equipment is solid, the waders and boots are comfortable, and the guide is one of the best I’ve ever worked with. Chris is not only a great guide, but an awesome all around good person, which is hard to find these days. He knows the waters well, and had a plan to get into some good fish! He’s ethical, follows the law, respects the wildlife and environment, and has a passion for what he does. If he’s not guiding, he’s fishing. He even makes his own baits and lures. It was my first time in Alaska, and I was on the fence about hiring a guide service or just going fishing on my own, and I am so glad I hired a guide. We had a great day fishing and I’ll be back next summer. Be willing to have a flexible schedule! Chris likes to truly work the waters and go where the fish are, so plan on fishing a full day, because he will do everything he can to get you and your friends the limit.
