Greg and staff are amazing! They offer the highest quality products in the Eagle River/Anchorage area! I especially love being treated to authentic Greek treats! Greg's lovely girlfriend's amazing spanakopita literally brought tears to my eyes. It was that amazing!

My wife and I stopped in because we were interested in some grass fed beef and chicken etc. There was no one in the shop, we wondered around and our impression was the smell off putting for sure, the shop seems TIRED.. The cases needed cleaning and the way the meat is displayed doesn't give you confidence in their product. We promptly left without speaking with anyone, needless to say we're looking for a better shop possibly directly from a producer.

I wasn't impressed with this place the first time I was there to get some ground beef. The ground beef was cheap compared to what I've been paying for at the local grocery stores. My beef with this place is the lack of customer service. The people there seem rather arrogant and unfriendly. I mean, couldn't you even put a smile on your face!?I was at Mr. Prime Beef in Anchorage and the atmosphere was definitely way better. The people there were so friendly and nice. I'd highly recommend Mr. Prime Beef over Mike's though it's further away from where I live, close to Hatcher Pass.

Normally this place is best there is. Sadly in the last 3-4 months they have been pretty bad. Selection has been very low, out of a lot of stuff pretty consistently. The last 3 times I've been there the cuts aren't good. Selling Prime meat that is obviously Choice and uneven cuts on things like ribeye where one side is 1 inch and the other 1/2. With the price of beef these two things should be perfect every time. Hopefully they get it together but for now I'll go to Mat Valley or Mr. Prime.

Living in a small town has its advantages. Mikes meats definitely has great choices. From pre-made stuffed mushrooms to fresh meats ready for barbecues. It takes a lot out of preparation time. I finally bought some of their spices, and I'm pleased to say they added new flavors to our meals.

We've been coming here for years and love this place. Great roast beef, steaks and sausages. The staff are generally friendly, but one of the butchers was kind of a j*** when I asked for pork to add to our moose meat- I called and he said they had it but very rudely told me that they don't sell it when I walked into the store an hour later. How odd?!

Paid almost 400.00 for a beef box bush order after trying a few other places. These guys offer a larger box for less but don't let that fool you. *Another butcher not only wrapped our meat so we can see what we purchased in both foam and vacuum bags but had our order delivered in less than 24 hours. Mike's was one layer of freezer paper. I ordered from Mike's on a Wednesday and our order didn't ship until the following Friday. The meat was spoiled and when I called to report it I was treated as an annoyance, yelled at, than hung up on. I smell lingered for a long time, bits of meat were on the outside of the packages and it had excess blood as if it was never ever cleaned. We returned the order and heard nothing! Two weeks later I still did not get a call or any notice about my refund. Several calls to this butcher went unanswered.I ended up calling my bank to get this addressed. Luckily I saved all my paperwork/recording including the shipping info. Again I have tried other area butchers and want to save you the trouble. I stand by my statement 100% especially after being treated in this manner.

There haven't been a lot of recent reviews on this place and I've been going here for several years. Initially, I thought it was amazing. Great service and quality meats, albeit a little bit expensive. The last few times that I have been in however, I have been greeted by surly employees. I don't even know if I would call it greeted, rather acknowledged that somebody walked in the door. You almost feel as if you're bothering them or irritating them that you're there. I have noticed a difference in the quality of meats, even the prime meats. I don't know if Covid just had a major hit on this place but at one time, it felt like a mom and pop shop and you were happy to give business to this local place. Now it just feels like the only option close by that's really expensive with bad customer service. I'm giving it a three star just because of the history but my last two visits would rate this a 1 star. Hopefully this is just a bad season for them and things start to get better. One could be hopeful!
Best quality meat selection in Eagle River. I try to swing by when I can to grab beef bones. I take them home to make a delicious bone broth!

If you want to give yourself hours of extra work and ruin your family events or holidays than I suggest ordering meats from this awful business. Our last order was a large order and the brilliant meat packers lumped pounds and pounds of meat together without even thinking that someone would have to re-package and separate it. We were able to move past it until late last evening when we realized the 10 pounds of leg of lamb we ordered was indeed only 5. Sadly we were so busy for an entire day re-packaging the poorly packed order that we didn’t realize this major screw up. I trusted that my order was correct and unfortunately it was not. I have a house full of company today for the holiday and not even close to enough meat. Nothing is open and they have essentially almost wrecked our family meal. Thankfully my bestie saved the day, but I will never order from them again and I will be sure to let all my friends, family and patients I do business with know what a poorly run place this is. Shame on this business. Should be zero stars not 1.

I've had some good orders from Mikes quality meats, until the last order I placed. I opened up some pork chops to cook only to smell a heavy gas or diesel smell. Something super toxic anyways.Twice was I ready to cook up 3 pounds of ground meat and found 2 of three ground meat brown and one red. Today I called to complain about these issues only to get yelled at and told; " File a complaint with Everts Air! ( Whom is thier carrier). No offers to make it right or contact thier carrier themselves. Greg was very rude and has lost my business. The pork chops were definitely unedible.Beware and Avoid at all costs cause I wasted over $200 on this order. I thought I was saving myself money and store trips but am still having to go to the store to buy meats.
