I must say, my recent dining experience at the Army facility nestled amidst the frigid embrace of the Arctic was nothing short of remarkable. Upon entering, one is enveloped in an ambiance of camaraderie and warmth, a welcome respite from the biting chill outside. The fare presented was not only hearty but also exquisite in its preparation, a testament to the skill and dedication of the kitchen staff. From piping hot stews to perfectly roasted meats, each dish was a symphony of flavor, expertly crafted to satisfy both palate and soul. Furthermore, the service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was promptly attended to. In sum, my visit to this Arctic dining haven was an experience to cherish, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any traveler in search of sustenance and solace amidst the icy vastness of the North.
I'm totally shocked at the state of the one dining facility on FWA. Before I left the Fairbanks area 5 yrs ago, we had 2 fantastic, top-notch dfacs. The food was always fresh, the service was always fast, and portions plentiful. I come back & have eaten there several times. Every time I've visited, the service is slow & the food is always barely room temperature or just cold, overcooked, undercooked & overall just bad. One of the best resources & benefits to soldiers is the dfac, but not when it's allowed to be run at a substandard level. No wonder the number of soldiers I see actually use it is about half of what it was 5 yrs ago. What a shame!
