Black Spruce Brewing Company Brewery • $$
3290 Peger Rd ste b, Fairbanks

“Nestled in a modest industrial building in Fairbanks, Black Spruce Brewing Co. proves that great things come in unassuming packages. Known as one of the best breweries in Alaska, this spot lived up to its reputation and then some.

The parking lot beer garden adds a casual vibe that invites patrons to enjoy their brews in the fresh air, even on a chilly Fairbanks evening.

The standout of the visit was the Willet Bourbon Blend Reginald Van Horn Barleywine. This meticulously crafted blend of Barleywine was aged to perfection—12 months in Willet Bourbon barrels and 7 months in Knob Creek Bourbon barrels. The result is a complex, velvety brew that balances rich malt sweetness with the warmth of bourbon. It’s not just a beer; it’s an experience. Easily the most memorable beer of the trip, it showcased the brewery's dedication to quality and creativity.

Black Spruce delivers exceptional craft beer that rivals the best in the state and leaves a lasting impression. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a must-visit for beer lovers.“

“Visited the night of 1/26. Really great place, good selection of drinks many that I will absolutely return for, friendly staff, great atmosphere, and we had food from a super yummy food truck they had for the night (greek food called Megs eats & treats). I really like that this place has plenty of seating as well! I will definitely be returning!“

The International Hotel and Bar Lounges • $$
122 N Turner St, Fairbanks

“Stacey is a premiere Guinness beer tender. She pours the perfect pint! The one start for food is because there are no bar snacks except chips for purchase. They used to have bar pizza, but on Friday and Saturday, there is a typical BBQ FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, streaks, hamburgers, and dogs.

Parking: Free parking in rear of building.

Wheelchair accessibility: Flat floor throughout the establishment. No steps to enter.“

Howling Dog Saloon Pubs • $$
2160 Old Steese Hwy N, Fairbanks

“This place is a unique experience with some good beer or a full bar to choose from. All those who were there were locals and very friendly to the four of us tourists. It is one of those places you are not sure you want to go in but put away your fear and enjoy the experience. Not for children or the faint of heart. This place is fun and needs to be visited.“
