Coffee was served without creamer or sweetener, I had to ask for it. Server told us they didn’t have a kids menu, then after we started ordering said that they DID have a kid’s menu that she didn’t know about, and hadn’t seen it until she pulled out her electronic device for taking our order. Server waited for each of us to finish our meals and took each plate immediately as we each individually finished. We felt like we were being rushed to leave even though there were only three occupied tables in the restaurant and they weren’t busy at all. Servers are clearly not well trained and don’t know what’s on the menu. Food is significantly overpriced. The food and coffee tasted great, but I won’t be coming back here again.

I dropped a piece of food on the floor at dinner... The next day we ate breakfast and sat at the same table. The piece of food was still on the floor.

Overrated, small portions, and expensive. Get away from the cruise crap and support the locals.

The lunch menu on the website is not available and the waitress had never seen it. Chose this restaurant based off that menu and was disappointed

Food was ok for a restaurant in a hotel. We got what we expected. Nothing spectacular.

Seriously, amazing. The pretzel was huge! And soo good. Loved the atmosphere, our server was so nice. The restaurant parking lot was at the back of the hotel, just in case you don't want to walk through the hotel to the restaurant.

We had ribeyes and they were seared correctly and the compound butter was a nice touch.

I was too tired to go find anything else and found the food was actually pretty good. They have a char grill so grilled food has a good char taste to it. I had the steak fritz, I asked for medium but was more med-rare but it was good as the sirloin steak was pretty tender and tasty. Ceasars salad was really good. People next to me had the salmon and fettuccine, can't say how it tasted but they looked good and the peice of salmon was pretty good size. The place it self isn't that exciting and service was OK.

By the way, the menu that is linked ,as of the writing of this review, is quite out of date.

We enjoyed our visit to Red Lantern. Fish and chips were delicious, and we enjoyed the gorgeous specialty Northern Lights cocktail. Service was attentive and prices were pretty reasonable. Convenient location for anyone staying at the Westmark hotel.

The price is not worth it, but there are almost no options outside the hotel.

Great service and very pleasant and efficient wait staff (however, when we had eye contact, the bartender did look a bit hostile but no matter, we were not seated at the bar).

Now, on to the FOOD….

We ordered the fish and chips, which came in the classic deep golden hue. The batter fried coating on the fish was cooked to perfection. However, the fish inside was not as cooked as I would like and leaned toward a medium versus my preferred well done. The fish was not the pure white flaky I so love.

The fries were golden and delicious. They came in their own cute fry basket that actually looked like a miniature metal deep fry basket.

Malt vinegar and ketchup were our side orders— nothing else was needed.

On the whole the meal did not disappoint and I like that you can choose between two pieces of fish and three. We ordered three and split the meal and that was perfect!

The atmosphere was fun and electric. It was nicely crowded and vibrant with travelers sharing stories of their adventures. It was fun to dine with people at the end of their trips and those at the beginning—-everyone seemed to be traveling with Holland America. I did not meet any local diners.

One weird thing was that the water tasted strongly of chlorine or done other chemical additive—it was tap water so it may just be the way the water tastes in Fairbanks— up to that point, I’d been drinking bottled water. We ordered another beverage instead.

Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for coffee and tea, so we were stressed about getting to our excursion on time. The drinks tasted okay.
