The BLT was surprisingly good for airport food; the lady did such a great job serving. She also helped us find our dental brace. Much appreciated! Good service and good people here. Much love to this place

Just giving credit where it is due. Despite the other reviews my wife and I sat down (since the sign says to seat yourself) and we had someone take our order within about 6 or 7 minutes. We did make the most of it by having our choices ready to go when she got to our table to take our order. The food was really good. The reindeer sausage chili was hearty and the pretzels hit the salty craving I was having. Dirty chips was so good we finished the plate and it was huge.

Worst experience of my life. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and unwanted until I stepped foot in there. Sign says seat yourself which I did. Sat there for 15-20 mins and no one acknowledged me at all. MANAGER looked my dead in my eyes and walked away. Servers walked passed me 8 TIMES ! 8 TIMES AND DIDNT SAY A WORD. Not even a I’ll be right with you, literally walked right passed me. Even the other customers around noticed. This is literally the only restaurant in the whole airport so that’s why I was forced to get food there because I had a long overnight flight coming and again this is the only place to buy actual food. RACIST vibes !! The staff and the restaurant itself needs to be investigated. You should treat all races and colors the same. Not treat African American customers the way they do. Horrible would not recommend. Ended up getting up from my table to go to the bar because no one ever served me. Then she gets mad because I’m not getting a drink? Like seriously ? Well get the staff together. Needless to say after maybe 45 to an hour I get my food. And it wasn’t disgusting and not even worth the money.

The food was excellent. We had hamburger, chili, salmon burger, and barbecue sandwich. Everyone said their food was great. Chili was spicy and delicious french fries were also good. It does take a long time to order, but the food was then out on our table after a very short wait.

The salmon blt was fresh and served with a smear of garlic aoli. Delish!!! And our server Mary was the sweetest! She helped us with the menu and her recommendations were spot on. She even showed us some spectacular auroa pics. Eat here if you have a wait for a flight.

Useless server, Sheri was awful. Ignored, walked past several times and avoided her area on purpose. Neglected several new tables to hang with men at the bar. Waited 25 mins to be finally attended to by the server who was already off shift, trying to leave.

Was waiting for my flight on 11 Jul around 9pm. Ordered 1 beer from the bar tender that said she lives in Miami (taller blonde woman) and comes there to work the summer. Paid for the beer and gave a 20% tip. When the transaction hit my account, the ~$12 bill turned into $40+. Keep your receipt until your bill is posted, someone at the bar is stealing money from customers. Be safe and pay with cash

I don’t understand why a place called “The Local” can’t figure out a way to have at least ONE local beer on tap. There are 5 breweries in Fairbanks! Other than that it’s a pretty good place.
