I am so glad I read the reviews about this restaurant. As others have mentioned, I highly recommend the clam chowder. It was beyond delicious and I wish I could go back so I could eat a whole bowl instead of just a cup. The halibut was good as well as the ribeye sandwich. Very cool that we got to watch them cook our food and service was awesome!!

We enjoyed our evening here very much. I'm still wishing I had ordered the crab too. Everything we ate was great but the chowder was our favorite! Our waitress was busting her rear and her service was outstanding.

Excellent food, great service. Usually not busy so easy to get a table. My wife and I occasionally drive down from Anchorage just to eat at Basecamp. The only minor complaint - they need a bit better ventilation - it's got a strong smell of cooking food. They have a hood over the cooktop, but it's insufficient. This just means your dog will go crazy for you when you get home because your clothes and hair will smell like food. 😜😂
Overall a great place to grab lunch or dinner, even worth the 40m drive from Anchorage, as you can take in the beautiful views down the Seward Highway.

7 friends and I came here as part of a stop on a tour. As part of the tour, we expected good food, and even better service.
We started our evening at Basecamp by waiting about an hour for our food. Upon receiving 7 of our 8 meals, we were notified that the steak quesadillas were mistakenly given to another table and we would have to wait longer to receive them.
Meanwhile, our group began to eat our food. After eating 1/4 of a burger, one of our party discovered mold on the bun. Upon notifying the waitress, the manager came out claiming the blue, fuzzy mold was actually avocado. Without apology, or explanation, he took it away back to the kitchen. We decided to tell him to not order another because we had lost our appetite.
After this ordeal, we receive chicken quesadillas, about an hour and twenty minutes after we ordered them. We notified the waitress that they were chicken and not steak, in case the charge for steak was larger than the charge for chicken.
The manager then came over, put the check on the table, and said “the burger and the quesadilla are off the check” and walked away. While we are grateful that didn’t charge for our poor meals, the lack of empathy was unsettling.
While the atmosphere was nice, the next 4 days was full of frequent trips to the bathroom for all members of our group. Many of us were not able to eat for 3 days because of how badly our stomachs felt after this experience. 7 of the orders were burgers and we all agreed the burgers tasted off.
If I were you, I’d reconsider visiting Basecamp.

We stopped for a quick bite, late lunch. My friend and I shared a garden salad, which was crisp and fresh, in each got a cup of the chowder. The chowder was delicious. It had wonderful flavor, the perfect thickness and consistency. Certainly worth returning for.
We LOVE this spot!!! It’s become a favorite when in Girdwood. The poke bowl and salmon spread are the best in the whole state!! Steamed mussels are mouthwatering. Everything we’ve tried was delicious. We’ll be back often ❤️

I imagine this is a fun spot to dine at in the busy season. Holy wow the chowder is probably the best I’ve ever had. Hands down. If my stay in Alaska was longer I would go out of my way to get it again. I also had the mussels which were pretty good. I’m more of an oyster fan myself but they were out. Overall great meal, friendly staff, and nice vibe
