The halibut fish and chips here is the best I’ve had in all of Haines. The batter was light and fluffy, and there was plenty of tender fish to satisfy my appetite. While the food took about an hour to arrive, the beautiful view of the fjord and passing cruise ships made the wait much more enjoyable. The staff were also friendly and helpful. We will certainly be stopping by next time we visit.

Rude staff, with no one in line it took 10 minutes to be seated despite two staff members walking past me saying nothing. After I was finally seated and received a menu I waited another ten minutes no service not even a glass of water. I never did get food!

Arrived a hour and fifteen minutes before closing and waited an hour and a half for our food. After being allowed 15 minutes to eat we were asked if we could leave because they were closed. Pasta dish was tasteless but halibut was good.

Poured what was clearly half a shot for a $14 drink, forgot to place my food order, and the restaurant was closed when I asked about it. Brutal service and will not visit again

Group of us ate there based on recommendation of local. Portions are small for price. Fish and chips-5 pieces were nugget size. Understaffed so service was very slow. Little ventilation and crowded so it was very hot and stuffy. Locals so damned loud nobody could carry on a conversation-literally couldn't hear each other. Like a crowded bar on Saturday night.

Lively and busy restaurant - authentic Alaskan hospitality complemented by great food and impressive views. It gets busy so don’t leave it too late. Throughly recommended. Staff keen to please.

What a horror! Terrible, our patience having its limits, we left after an hour and a half without having had anything to eat. However, we asked several times when we would have our dishes and we were told soon, soon.
I didn't think it took more than 1.5 hours to cook pasta (and shrimp).
And as a bonus, when we started to grumble, the waiters made fun of us by giggling in their corner.
It's sad, distressing, no doubt these people are too spoiled.
In short, an attempt at a meal to forget and a pseudo restaurant to forget

We had grilled salmon, bisque, and fish and chips. The food was sooooo good that made me wanted to cry! The grilled salmon is the BEST that I've ever seen. They have really good taste of garlic butter, sauce, and spices.

We were starving when we stopped by here for a late lunch. It was delicious We enjoyed everything from the seafood chowder to the grilled salmon and salmon tacos. We also ordered some garlic bread. We are in Haines for 3 nights and we will more likely return for another meal. Great spot by the water.

After nine years of exploring different destinations as full-time travelers, we encountered the worst service and food at this place, which was simply unacceptable for a dish as straightforward as fish and chips.
Worst part is we were not even given cutlery’s to eat our fish and chips. 35 mins later we were still waiting on it while picking on our food with our fingers.
Dine time was around 5:30pm.

Two locals recommended this place to us so we went despite the low 4.0 rating on Google. When we walked in, the place was full, but we were willing to put our names down on a waitlist and even split our party of 7 into two tables. The waitress/hostess looked at me and said "We're full," and gestured for me to look around like I needed to clearly survey myself that it was full. And I'm like yes, I see. Can we get on the waitlist? She replies that they don't have waitlists and don't take reservations on ship days, and we would have come back in an hour. "That's all I can do for you" as she just looked totally unfriendly and uninterested in even giving us a modicum of hospitality. She didn't even look at me after that. We left feeling like this lady is either very miserable or racist. Didn't want to eat there anyway!

Update: we got into the Bamboo Room instead where the waitress was very nice though extremely busy. When leaving after we finished, we heard a chef, who was taking a short break, tell some tourists that it would be a two hour wait and there was no waitlist. He was matter of fact about it (they were slammed) but he was not RUDE and dismissive like the one at the Lighthouse.

Best halibut fish and chips in all of Alaska. After 6 ports of call this was by far the best. Sooo good.
