“Rusty Compass coffeehouse is a great stop for a hot coffee, Latte, or hot chocolate. The food is served hot with a warming smile and the freshly made pastries are everyone’s delight. We made it to Rusty Compass at least once a day and sometimes twice a day during our stay.”

“An absolute gem of a find. Small privately owned and fantastic food. There were basically 2 menu items to choose from as they make the menu up base on fresh local ingredients. We had a most delicious fried chicken on sticky rice with a slight Asian flair. Everyone eats at long community style tables in one of the historic buildings at Fort Seward.”

“You must stop there for a meal if you're ever in the area! Fabulous, delicious home cooked meals, great service. We ate there a couple of times last year. A year later, the lady who served us then remembered us! That is such a feel good feeling.Awesome home fries! The tastiest eggs I've had in a long time. Incredible desserts!The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and friendly. There's also some neat surprises to peek your interest while dining. Loads of conversation pieces...And if you love dogs, be mindful of the house dog... If you throw the stick once, you're in it for at least an hour... And he will remember you whenever you come back ???”

“What would Haines do without this place!? I never want to know! Alpenglow makes such delicious pizza that my husband and I have to hold ourselves back from going there 3x a week. I’m gluten free, and the whole Alownglow crew is so accommodating toward me. Their gluten free crust is so good that I’d go so far as to say it’s the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried a ton of them). Thanks guys!!Dietary restrictions: GREAT FOR GLUTEN FREE PEEPS”

“My daughter and I went to this establishment during a cruise stop in Haines, AK. We were told by someone that the facility used to be a brothel so my daughter (age 29) and I thought it would be a hoot to have a drink there. Two big thumbs up for the waitress who served our drinks and engaged us in a little conversation and the bartender.”

“We were among the many cruise ship visitors in town and decided to have a cold beer in the Fogcutter Bar. The atmosphere is great and the staff friendly, We noticed that they were putting up Mardi Gras decorations in August so had to ask about this interesting tradition. They have this themed celebrations on Labour Day as it marks the end of the summer season.”

“Specialty beers and Black FangAn imperial stout, Fang is rich in chocolate & coffee flavors, with a hint of licorice on the finish. This seasonal usually runs out in the summer and traditionally reappears in the tap lineup on Halloween. 8.2% ABV, 40 IBU we're excellent, except the specialties are NOT available to take home in a growler.”

“The halibut and salmon fish and chips are fantastic, along with a Caesar salad and a few Boatright Bourbons to form a wonderful meal. The service was fast and courteous and the food hot and fresh. The only complaint; they played modern Country music.”

“Found this place while wondering around Hanes. Super awesome staff and cooks. We had some dietary requests for our 15 month old and they said no problem. How nice is that? Best pizza I have had in a long time !”
