Don Jose’s in Homer invariably serves up tasty food in a colorful and clean space where you can just about always get a seat. Consistency is one of Don Jose’s best traits, as my favorite tortilla soup and enchiladas are always delicious, Yolanda and the rest of the staff are always attentive and delightful, and they are open on busy days in the summer or during blizzards in the winter when other restaurants are closed. Don Jose’s is an easy spot to recommend to tourists and is a go-to for locals. My very favorite thing about Don Jose’s is their commitment to our community. Fundraisers, birthdays, graduations, family gatherings… Don Jose’s is an easy choice. I will never forget the staff donating a percentage of proceeds for a weekend to my dear friend’s young son upon her passing last year. Thank you all so much for that again. Don Jose’s is more than an easy weeknight choice for locals or a fun taste of Mexico in Homer for tourists, it really is a pillar of our little Cosmic Hamlet in Homer!…. And the enchiladas are GREAT!

I am from Norway and never did i expect to find such a great place like DonJoses in alaska. The food is great. The people are wonderful. Yolanda mase the whole experince great. We met the Owner Jose and he is a really friendly and genuine person and a wonderful host. Yolanda makes the best margaritas in Alaska.

When my wife and I came into town for a birthday weekend, we arrived early and were scrolling through what was available when we came across Don Jose’s and decided to roll the dice. We've tried every “Mexican” restaurant in Anchorage and the valley and been disappointed every time. We had given up hope that there was anything remotely authentic or as delicious as the Mexican food we both grew up on in Texas. Don Jose's absolutely blew our minds. The fried avocado appetizer was beautifully done, delicious, and a large enough portion to be an entree. I had the enchilada trio with ground beef/birria beef/chicken with one of each sauce and my wife had the cheese enchilada with beef tamale. Every single aspect of both dishes was impeccable. The tenderness of the meats showed top notch attention to detail, care for, and respect of the ingredients which delivered bursting flavor in every bite. The ground beef enchilada with verde sauce was the best I've ever had, and the meal as a whole was the best Mexican food I've ever had outside of south central Texas. It's a six hour drive for us to get here but we will absolutely plan our next trip to Homer around visiting Don Jose's again. I can not possibly recommend it more highly to anyone looking for food so good you won't believe it was made in Alaska.

Hrs of operation are bogus. Ate there 1 time for lunch this year. The waitress said they would be open this summer by noon for the lunch crowd. That didn't happen. I would have liked to give Jose more of my business because the food is great.
