Went because I've been wanting red beans and rice, but it's not on their regular menu. Instead, I saw they had it as a special, so we went. At first, our server was very nice and helpful, but always was trying to upsell us on everything. Overkill - except for refilling our water glass, which never happened. We were sat down where the overhead speaker was so loud it made it hard to communicate. We were the only people in the restaurant section. The server told us it was dead on Mardi Gras and now I know why.

The oysters were great, but mine came with only a lemon, nothing else. There was no salt or pepper on the table, only Cajun hot sauce, which you needed copious amounts of because that had to be the blandest red beans and rice I've ever had.

I come from Houston, Texas, and many Cajuns opened restaurants after Hurricane Katrina as they moved over. I know Cajun food. This wasn't Cajun. It wasn't NOLA style either. Very disappointing.

Great experience. They host live music 2 nights a week, and host various local events. Service was attentive; the owner made themselves available and we felt welcomed. Food was cooked perfectly; photos attached

Great food! Crawdad cakes and clams in wine were our favorites. Portions were huge. I will also say the restroom was very nice. 😊

We both had prime rib and shared the bread pudding. Both were excellent! The prime rib was fork tender and the bread pudding with whiskey sauce was New Orleans good! Great personable service with a fabulous view.

Just outstanding -- You don't get this level of service anywhere nowadays!

We were visiting from Minnesota with our family, and a family member recommended this restaurant for dinner. We were immediately impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of our waitress. The restaurant had a small-town upbeat vibe to it, and it was very cozy. The view out the back patio was STUNNING!

Even after we had settled the tab, our waitress stuck around and was happy to chat. It was like catching up with an old friend!

Thank you everybody at the Homestead Restaurant for making our stay so special!

We had an excellent meal and great service last week at the Homestead. This restaurant has been a local legend in Homer and the new owners are carrying on in great style.

I was initially hesitant to go based on some of the previous reviews. I am happy to say our experience, service, and food was excellent. $1 cold water oysters on Wednesday is a killer deal. The live band combined with staff members that are attentive, but not intrusive, makes it a nice spot out of sight of the tourist hot spots. Halibut sandwich, prime rib and oysters were a big hit with our group.

We had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was terrible. The cocktail shrimp tasted like they were straight from a Costco bag, and the clams were drenched in an oily mix of bacon grease and chicken broth. Oysters were served semi warm like they had been sitting for a bit. Service wasn’t any better, waited 30 minutes for our drinks and the appetizers arrived before the drinks did, with no side plates or utensils. So we sat around waiting for plates, utensils, and drinks while our food got cold. Waitress didn’t acknowledge it or seem to care

Newly remodeled, out East End Rd in Fritz Creek. Good food, nice bar, elevated dining in the dining room, unbeatable views! A favorite of locals.
