Amalga is a small distillery on the outskirts of downtown offering a free tasting, craft cocktails and grab and go cans. They only had Juniper Gin for both tasting and cocktails so not quite the distillery we had in mind! The gal at the counter was super sweet and inviting and the gin was smooth and sweet as well. As a distillery, they have a two drink minimum which is great for a little diversion from the tourist area. Sadly, two of the folks in our group didn't like gin so we didn't stay long!
Good drinks, causal vibes, good service!
$5 Gin and Tonic, need I say more? The gin was fantastic and so glad I got a bottle to take home!
Nice distillery tasting room serving gin and whiskey cocktails on tap.
The Juniper Gin is smooth and crisp. I appreciate the local flavor craft cocktails using ingredients like
Rhubarb, spruce tips, raspberries, etc. The canned cocktails are a great grab and go option as well.
I had to dock a star because on heavy cruise passenger days this place almost feels impossible to sit and relax and enjoy your drink. It’s loud and there is seemingly never more than a chair available to sit and sip your drink.
It’s definitely better when it’s just locals but, can’t say it’s a place to just hang out and catch up.
The tasting room itself is aesthetically pleasing. I enjoy the variety in chair space and ability to people watch.
I’ll save it for non-cruise ship days and enjoy the canned cocktails at home.
Worth a walk from the cruise terminal. Best G&T I’ve ever had!
Excellent local distillery with a clean, modern vibe and approachable, knowledgeable staff. The gin + ginger beer was superb. Give it a shot (or two!) when you’re in town.
This place was so great I visited twice while in port. A bit of a walk from the ships, but it’s absolutely worth it. The bar has a large open room with huge windows facing the street and mountains. Only tried the gin and tonic because it was so excellent I didn’t need to bother with anything else.
Very happy to have stumbled upon this great independent distillery in the heart of Juneau. We had one gin and tonic and would happily have tried more had we not been pressed for time. Fabulous and highly recommend
As five stars as somewhere can get. Beautiful cocktails, clean space, airy and charming design, friendly staff. The cocktails here were incredible. One of a kind. Also, great pricing!
Truly special. I even got a spicy drink in some cans to-go!

They have great tasting whiskey and gin. Try the gin and tonic...the best I've ever had. Also, for alcohol free, try the raspberry lemon cello. It's tart, but good
Good hang out spot to have drinks
A $5 gun and tonic?! Are you serious. Very nice atmosphere, lovely bartenders, tasty and cheap cocktails! A must stop after a Deckhand Dave's Taco, maybe the best fish taco I've ever had.
I tried the gin on its own first. The gin is renowned for being made with locally sourced spruce tips, Devil’s Club, Labrador Tea, and rhubarb.
I then started with one of their cocktails on draft - the classic G&T which came in a delightful geometric glass. My mother had their zero-proof tomato cocktail which she adored.
My second cocktail was the cucumber ? gin cocktail. It was very delicate and soothing. We spent a decent amount of time relaxing in the distillery and sipping on our drinks.
I made sure to buy a bottle of the gin to take home with me to enjoy.
Fantastic cocktails with a very nice atmosphere and very kind staff. Everyone in our party loved the variety! Must visit when in town.
