Very lovely environment, very nice walk by a creek and beautiful water fall. However, was told on the bus ride there that the fish is "fresh frozen" which was disappointing to hear, considering we're in the capitol of Alaska right next to the ocean. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't feel like that justifies serving frozen fish... not only that, it just didn't taste that great. The buffet food was sub par at best... the overall experience is a 6/10 for me. But the food was the whole reason I booked this with my family.
We experienced the salmon bake here that was included with our Mendenhall Glacier excursion. The area is a forest setting and is very serene. There was a guitarist playing soft music. We took a short walk to a beautiful little waterfall along the creek right there. The salmon was delicious and cooked outdoors over a big barbecue. The sauce they use is so good! It was very cozy especially since it was lightly raining but there were canopies.

An Unforgettable Experience! ⭐
Wow, where do I even begin? The Gold Creek Salmon Bake is an absolute must-visit if you're in Juneau. From the moment we arrived, it was a magical experience. The setting itself is breathtaking—dining in the middle of a lush rainforest, surrounded by the beauty of nature, with a waterfall just steps away.
Let’s talk about the salmon… OMG. The fish was beyond perfect! If you go, I highly recommend asking for it medium-rare—the salmon was soft, tender, and melted in my mouth. I had seven filets of the most delicious red sockeye salmon glazed with honey. Each bite was more amazing than the last. The honey glaze took it to a whole new level. Truly unforgettable.
The other food? Just as incredible. The chowder was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The hot apple cider hit the spot, especially in the cool rainforest air. I also couldn’t get enough of the reindeer sausage in the baked beans—so good! And don’t sleep on the cornbread—warm, fresh, and perfectly paired with the salad.
As if the food wasn’t enough, the whole atmosphere added to the magic. Roasting marshmallows at the campfire while surrounded by nature was such a cool and fun experience. The place is truly a gem—you get the best of both worlds with amazing food and beautiful surroundings.
If you're visiting Juneau, the Gold Creek Salmon Bake is worth every penny. You'll leave full and with memories that will last a lifetime!

Great excursion to Mendenhall Glacier first where we walked and had beautiful views of the glacier. Afterwards we were taken to Gold Creek salmon bake and enjoyed the food and more views of a creek nearby.

Sitting outside on a cold rainy day is not my idea for an enjoyable meal. The samon was gray and smoked with a wood that shouldn't have been used. The only sides I ate was the cornbread and slaw. Not worth the time to go but it's part of the cruise package I bought.

We were brought to this salmon bake location as part of our excursion during our Alaskan cruise. This place has such a whimsical charm and looks straight out of a forest fairytale. You can literally smell the grill half a mile away. Everything here is unlimited (minus the alcohol) and we definitely got seconds. There was salad, clam chowder, cornbread, reindeer and baked beans (the BEST thing ever), dirty rice, finger-licking good BBQ ribs, and of course the star of the show, wild salmon with a yummy maple honey glaze. Just be careful there are some bones in the salmon. When you’re ready for dessert they also have blueberry cakes and you can also make s’mores over the fire pit for free! There’s a short trail to walk to get to an old mining location, and the stream alongside the trail is cute. All in all, a fantastic salmon bake experience and ambience. We would book our excursion again for this salmon bake alone!
Wheelchair accessibility: Space was wide enough for wheelchairs and scooters and there are plenty of tables that are open ended, allowing wheelchairs or scooters to pull up to them. LOTS of gravel though be careful!
