Since I live in Akaska I found the menu prices to be very reasonable. Our server was exceptional. I had the Hikers hash and I'm ready to drive back for more.

This is a great spot for lunch or dinner. The food was excellent—I especially enjoyed the seafood gumbo, packed with salmon, halibut, scallops, reindeer sausage, and rice, all topped with a puff pastry square. It had a wonderful New Orleans–style flavor. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was delicious as well. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Food was mid. Apparently hush puppies are supposed to be burned to a crisp according to our server. At least he removed them from the bill but I don't particularly want to eat somewhere that purposely serves burned food.
Wasn't all that impressed by the food...my friend and I went on Taco Tuesday..they did have live music that night which was good and the service was pretty good

Homestead Kitchen has excellent food, probably the nicest eating establishment in the small town of Talkeetna. The menu is small, but each dish we had was delicious! There are also several kid options. The meatball appetizer was excellent, and so was the broccoli and bean salad and the rhubarb cake. The service was very friendly. There is limited seating inside, but there is plenty of outdoor seating, especially on the side of the restaurant. Great elevated comfort food!

Had great eggs Benedict and breakfast Sammy and fried eggs . Ie, breakfast done well and competently. The ONLY thing I would suggest is serving locally made jams and jellies instead of the prepackaged crappy stuff in the tiny plastic containers you get at cheap diners.
