I discovered Kahiltna Bistro in Talkeetna, Alaska, while doing a virtual tour, and I've definitely added it to my list for a future visit! The place has a cozy atmosphere that seems perfect for relaxing after exploring the town. The dishes on the menu look delicious, with fresh ingredients and flavors that showcase the best of the region. Plus, I've read that the staff is very friendly, which is always a bonus. It's definitely on my list of places to check out. Greetings from Spain!

Reasonable price and great service
No many waitress need for wait a bit

?Soup of today: lots of ingredients in it: beef and veggie. A bit salty
?Fish Taco: just small portion of fish, would like to have taco being more dry
?Crab sandwich: fresh crab, good combination with avocado

We were hoping to grab an early supper and head to the air bnb for the night, but 5 was too early to order supper, which wasn’t a big deal we just didn’t expect it. We ordered a hummus platter with salmon, which was really good but originally tried to order the salmon artichoke dip which was out. We asked for a drink menu but instead was asked what my husband likes “light or dark,” then was brought an extremely hoppy beer. Not a fan of those, but a fan of lighter beers.

Our waitress was super nice, we ordered supper but was out of the seafood Mac and cheese, so I opted for the rack of lamb, husband got the crab legs. While waiting our waitress was finished with her shift so we were switched to someone else, we sat for over 20 minutes after she left until our food came out. The waiter dropped the food and left, not saying a word. Mine was cold, we should have opted to move inside, food was barely warm when it came out and then sitting outside it got cold extremely fast. Our waters were nearly empty and then didn’t see the waiter again until we were almost done. He refilled the waters, I smiled and said thank you, and he didn’t respond at all.

Our experience wasn’t horrible by any means, it was just quite a few unfortunate things in one. The mixup of the time we could order supper, by itself, no biggie, but then being out of a lot of things, the waiter being kind of rude, and the food being kind of cold. I’d just one of these would’ve happened it wouldn’t have made the experience bad but it was just all of them.

Ordered after waiting a long time for bartender to finish socializing. could not tell me what type of oysters he offered. no bread offered. barely took drink orders when we asked. didn’t offer refills. ordered mystery species oysters and crab legs. prices are 40 percent too high. spent $205 bucks for my wife and I and she had one glass of wine only. Definitely a hard pass on this place. credit card receipt said fishing charter services name. I think this restaurant is a side gig and you can tell. oh yeah. food was definitely sub par. crab legs had a weird rubbery texture to them. almost like they had been microwaved. could hardly crack them. they just bent when i would try with pliers.

The place is a bit off the beaten path or is just ignored. It is right across from the train station. Thr food has a different twist compared to restaurants in downtown. It was tastey and the chef/cook is quite chatty and takes pride in his work. A nice change if taste compared to downtown food. I had the seafood Mac n' Cheese- tastey and very filling.

Big ole’ sign out front saying crab legs special at 5:30 PM. We try and order the crab leg special at 5:30 Pm, but they magically JUST sold the last DINNER special at 5:30 PM (the place is empty keep in mind)?

Waiter was all too quick to suggest a Halibut replacement. Seemed like a fake offering to get customers.

Service was really great, very sweet helpful staff. And patio was a beautiful atmosphere But food was only mediocre, basic, blah.
We had Alaskan crab sandwich, fish and chips, cheeseburgers, and butter clams.

Was lodging at the fancy Lodge up the
road but all locals said this simple bistro had superior food. Got two delicious meals for my wife and me and took away dessert (which they held while we shopped around town). Staff was fantastic!

Nice place to eat. Mostly outdoor seating. The service was great and cater to your needs. I ordered the rice bowl and I was craving salmon. The waitress said we can make you a salmon rice bowl. Good place to eat and loved the custom service.
