Beautiful but expensive handmade products.
They family was so nice! We loved eating at Annie’s kitchen next to the tent and enjoyed the waffle hot dogs & pulled pork sandwiches with ice cream! Family owned business and we love the ornaments we bought hand made from local birch wood tree bark! These were $25 & $35 on the pricey side but handmade and local.
Mexican goods from México and hand made knives by the family. Family owned and operated.
My son and I stopped by intrigued by the hand forged knives. The owner could not have been more helpful and informative. He educated us on the knife making process and taught us what to look for when shopping for authentic hand crafted knives. His whole family is involved in their market, the daughter makes jewelry and really takes pride in her work. Such a great family. He gave us a tip on where to fish in the area and we coincidentally met up with his kids who were amazing and gave my son great fishing advice
We found many less expensive handmade items at the Mexican Moose stand. The knitted items are made by hand and of good quality.
I found the sign for The Mexican Moose, but their shop was empty. A torn and tattered awning was over an oven type table but nothing else was there. No people, no food, no shop, no nothing. Gone for the end of season? I don't know, it was end of August, first week of September, a little early to already be abandoned.
We saw the Mexican moos sign but not any moose. It is at the river which has amazing views of Denali.
I used to live in Talkeetna, but I chose to move to Fairbanks, but decided to come back to visit. I highly recommend the roasted peanuts at Mexican Moose. The owners children were very polite and gave samples to people walking by by their gift shop. I know very little Spanish, but you can speak English or Spanish at Mexican Moose. Check out their tents. These are gift shops. The Mexican Moose family has handcrafted some of the items themselves. And before you leave Talkeetna, don't forget to buy their roasted peanuts. I buy them for a snack for my long drive back to Fairbanks. Muchos Grasias to Mexican Moose, we'll be back.
We found some beautiful birch baskets made a Hispanic family at this little shop. They were a little pricey but we have been thinking about them ever since the last time we're were here a year ago. They also have lots of clothing items, jewelry, and knives. All of it is handmade. The only thing we don't like is that the prices are a little high and they follow you around while you browse.
