Champy's Famous Fried Chicken

Waitress was great! Tamales are always delicious (could use a little more sauce on them), the chicken is really good. I drive from Bessemer to Alabaster because it's never a disappointment!

This is a small chain that is in a few states with Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia being the ones at the moment. This location is the first one I have eaten at although I have seen locations in Chattanooga from the outside and they looked quite popular there. They specialize in most things fried and have nice fried chicken, chicken on a stick, fried chicken tender po boys, chicken salad po boys, fried shrimp po boys, fried catfish po boys and even offer some decent tamales. The try to do the Cracker Barrel Country Store style of decoration with a bunch of random items strewn about on the walls and such but they put it together a bit too organized so you can tell it isn't an organic natural development that happened over decades. For bonus points they do have booze and beer here along with sometimes having live music so that makes it a bit better than it would be otherwise.

Only four stars because I’ve only gotten the catfish, but I have been there three times and I’ve always gotten the catfish and it has been consistently good. And the jalapeño hush puppies are always on point.

The service was great and the food was average. Had the chicken livers and it was not seasoned very well. Nice atmosphere and pleasant folks. I will give it another try in the future.

Food is good. Takes a while to get it because its cooked fresh. Servers are lacking. Had to get own menus, utensils. Asking for something took a while to get and they would forget. Not real friendly. That's just out of 2 all there, maybe it was bads days for them... we all have them.

If the waitress had bothered to ask, i had the best fried chicken ever! Good cloeslaw n beans too

Family friendly and amazing service. Couldn't ask for a better down to earth and understanding environment. We have 3 small children and they were very patient with our family of 5. We can't wait to go back for more!! The vibe was amazing.

The smoked wings are unlike any wings we've ever had. Anywhere we go now the wings are held to the champy standard.

This wasy first time eating here and the chicken fingers were DIVINE! Flaky, delicious and made fresh. Also the Champys sauce is 10/10
